Re: 194.80.20.10

User:Wiki alf originally blocked this IP due to vandalism. I presume you may have been editing from Maidstone Grammar School? Due to the large number of vandal editors from this IP, it is usually blocked. I had to edit from school, so I temporarily unblocked the IP whilst I edited. I reblocked the IP after and that is why my name showed up on the block log. Thanks, FireFoxT • 17:19, 23 January 2006

Ah, same difference or there abouts. Your IP block at Aylesford Sports College is mainly due to the spamheads at Maidstone Grammar School. I apologise on behalf of them all. The IP won't be blocked permanantly, so it's pot luck whether it's blocked or not when you try to edit from Aylesford Sports College. Thanks, FireFoxT • 20:11, 23 January 2006

Image Tagging Image:PRO-09 IMG.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:PRO-09 IMG.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Darkslide.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Image copyright problem with Image:Darkslide.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Darkslide.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 82.83.96.252 10:37, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: 194.80.20.10

I have changed some settings of the block, you should be able to edit now. --WinHunter (talk) 12:06, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lithium

Please do not move pages without discussion, as you did to Lithium (song). The proposal was just discussed last week and did not succeed; the Nirvana song is by far the most famous one and the Evanescence song is not yet even notable enough for its own article; it is currently just a redirect to the album, as it should be. Kafziel Talk 12:40, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, when you move a page, the system will automatically make the old location into a redirect to the new location. You shouldn't change that to a redirect to a disambiguation page. When you did that, hundreds of articles that linked to Lithium (song) were suddenly linking to Lithium (disambiguation), and linking to disambiguation pages is rarely a good thing. I'm going to leave the article at Lithium (Nirvana song) but I have changed the redirect back so that "Lithium (song)" redirects to "Lithium (Nirvana song)". If the Evanescence song is ever notable enough to sustain an article of its own, "Lithium (song)" can be turned into a disambiguation page (after discussion!) but then all of the Nirvana articles will need to be edited to avoid the disambiguation page.

I know it's kind of a complicated process, but it's the best way to ensure that readers find what they are looking for. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Kafziel Talk 13:05, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AfD Nomination: Star Wars Fanon

I've nominated the article Star Wars Fanon for deletion under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Star Wars Fanon satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. I have explained why in the nomination space (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Star Wars Fanon. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them. You are free to edit the content of Star Wars Fanon during the discussion, but please do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top). Doing so will not end the discussion. Your recent edit to Face of Boe

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. Please always observe our core policies. Thank you. --Mark H Wilkinson (t, c) 14:59, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sith edits

We do not allow unreferenced material to be added to Wikipedia. The entire article was almost completely unsourced, and the previous fact tag had been there for over a year. No references, not allusions, no nothing. I had warned folk it was coming via the Discussion page, and waited over a week before executing the edit.
I even moved the excised material to an archive, located here, allowing for folk to refer to the material needing to be cited, so that whatever effort was expended in writing it wouldn't simply be lost (and believe you me, I caught a bit of hell for even doing that).
The point of this is, the material is uncited. You must see that. It cannot remain in a Wikipedia article as is, and cannot return until substantial citations are added. If you want to discuss this, you can on the Discussion page. If you feel that my interpretation of Wikipedia's policy on citation is being incorrectly interpreted, please feel free to consult an admin on the matter. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 15:59, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove the AfD template until the discussion is not over. It is inactive, yes, but it is not over. This is clearly stated on the template itself. Zouavman Le Zouave 06:38, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Slipknot's fourth studio album, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. tomasz. 09:29, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sith edits

Your comment here wasn't very helpful, and onlyse serves either to start an edit war, chase away a fellow editor or to get yourself blocked. I've removed it, and would suggest that if you are interested in commenting on the post, that you resubmit a response that is more in keeping with how you would prefer your post's responses to be. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 05:46, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to bone up on Wiki-policy, JD. If your could be so kind as to point out where in wiki policy it is okay to make the sort of comment you did. I removed your comment as per the civility policy. You might want to consult an admin regarding this topic before re-adding it again. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Swjvs3.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Swjvs3.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 08:21, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Evanescence edit

Greetings Jasca, in a recent edit you made to the article Evanescence (diff), you uncensored a word, saying that Wikipedia does not censor content. While this is normally correct, direct citations are never changed from the format that is presented in the source. Here, the source used 'f--k', therefore, we also must use that or else it stops being a direct citation. Just keep this in mind in the future. If there are any questions, please leave a message on my talk page. Huntster (t@c) 19:56, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request to move article Skate (video game) incomplete

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Skate (video game) to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 23:32, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wales (more correctly, a part of it) was a principality before the conquest and during the periods it was administered by the heir-apparent (as Prince of Wales). It was fully integrated by statute and has not been a principality since then. Wales is a country. A country does not have to be sovereign to be a country. To some extent it has to do with popular feeling. It would be weird to call U.S. states "countries", but it used to be normal. In fact, for a significant period, one's state was one's country more so than the United States. If the Welsh think they're a country, they're a country. -Rrius (talk) 23:25, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is also defined as a country by the UK Government by the way. Just for historical accuracy, the hier-apparent did have estates in Wales, but so did many others so its inaccurate to say that the Prince of Wales was ever prince in any conventional sense of the word. --Snowded TALK 09:29, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Slipknot

Most biographies for rock bands have rock music rather than specific genres, especially in cases where it is not widely agreed that a listed genre defines the band. Heavy metal is a form of rock music, thus the labeling is entirely appropriate. Take a look at the article Black Sabbath and its corresponding talk page for related discussion, and please discuss any changes you wish to make before reverting another edit. The use of the "undo" function without additional explanation should only be applied to vandalism. (Sugar Bear (talk) 18:01, 5 April 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Hi. I have removed your additions again since I still believe it to be nothing more than rumour at this point. I have started a discussion on the talkpage Talk:History of Microsoft Windows#Speculation regarding Windows 8 gaming which further explains my reasoning. Hello.

I have changed the formatting (but did not alter the targets – links still resolve to the same locations) for improvement purposes. You can see my edits here. Thanks. 69.155.132.121 (talk) 23:43, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
