The 1961 Campeonato Argentino de Rugby was won by the selection of Mar del Plata that beat in the final the selection of Rosario

The teams were divides in 4 zone with round robin pool.
For the first team the success went to a team outside the direct control of della U.A.R.
For the second time a stranger referee has called to dirige some match of the championship. It was the Scottish James Taylor, inivited also for a one-month educational stage for arnentine referee[1]
