On 9 May 2015, an Airbus A400M Atlas cargo plane on a test flight crashed near Seville Airport.[3] It was due to be delivered to the Turkish Air Force.[3] The cargo plane was believed to be carrying six to ten people.[4][3] Four people were killed and two were seriously injured.[1]

The aircraft, number MSN23[5], was on a factory production test flight and flown by an Airbus test crew.[6][7][8] The pilots reported that the plane had a technical fault before it crashed.[2][9]

The Royal Air Force has "temporarily paused" its two[a] Atlas cargo planes immediately after this incident.[2]
