The 2021–22 season is the 122nd season in the existence of FC Barcelona and the club's 91st consecutive season in the top flight of Spanish football. In addition to the domestic league, FC Barcelona will participate in this season's editions of the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa de España, and the UEFA Champions League.

This is the first season since 2003–04 to not feature Lionel Messi, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain.

June

On 1 June, Barcelona announced the signing of Eric García from Manchester City on a free transfer.[2]

On 2 June, Barcelona announced the signing of Emerson from Real Betis. Barça had informed Betis that they would exercise their option to bring back Emerson after his two-year long loan spell with the Verdiblancos.[3]

August

Despite reaching an agreement with Messi and having to plan to sign a contract on 5 August, the club announced that Messi wouldn't stay at the club due to financial and structural obstacles posed by La Liga regulations.[15][16] He subsequently joined Paris Saint-Germain F.C. on 10 August.[17]
