Asamannoor is a village (Revenue village as well as a Gram Panchayat) in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. It is located in the Kunnathunad taluk.[1]

History

It (Gram Panchayat) came into existence in 1953 with six wards and seven ward members. Besides the general seat, the first ward was having a reserved seat also. Its duration was three years. The first president was K. Keshavappisharadi (two years) and then S.N. Nair. Since 1957 administrator rule is in operation.

Sri Vaidyan S Shankaran Nair : Famous Ayurveda Bhishagwaran(doctor/ Vaidyan). Famous for treatment of jaundice.

Sri Kela Vaidyan Kolasseril : Famous for Ayurveda. He could successfully treat even Polio affected patients.

Sri Thachayath Velunni Vaidyar : Farmer and former President of Punnayam SNDP Yogam.

Sri V P Saseendran : Politician and former Prsident of Ernakulam District Co Operative Bank.

Sri MSK Nampoothiri : Well known Homoeopathy physician.

Sri Meera Musaliar : Social worker and Muslim reformer

Dr Joy Meleth Abraham : Founder of the first allopathy hospital named Samaritan Hospital at Odakkali.
