The 2020 season is the Miami Dolphins' 51st in the National Football League, their 55th overall, and their second under head coach Brian Flores. The Dolphins will attempt to improve on their 5–11 record from the previous season and make the playoffs for the first time since 2016. They will also attempt to win the AFC East for the first time since 2008.

Signings

The Dolphins signed former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones, former Philadelphia Eagles running back Jordan Howard, and former New England Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy. The Dolphins also picked up San Francisco 49ers' RB Matt Breida in a trade for a fifth-round draft pick which later became Colton McKivitz.

Preseason cancellation

The Dolphins' preseason schedule was announced on May 7. However, on July 27, in a letter to fans, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell officially announced the cancellation of the entire preseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[11]
