New York's 23rd State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Senator Diane Savino since 2005. Savino is a former member of the Independent Democratic Conference, and was one of only two former members to win renomination in the 2018 primary election (the other being David Carlucci).
Geography
District 23 covers much of the North Shore of Staten Island, as well as parts of some southern Brooklyn neighborhoods, including Bensonhurst, Brighton Beach, Coney Island, Dyker Heights, Gravesend, and Sunset Park.[3]
The district overlaps with U.S. congressional districts 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, and with New York State Assembly districts 41, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 61, 63, and 64.[4]
