Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science & Technology is a deemed-to-be-university located[1] in a rural part of South India accredited by NAAC. The university headquarters is in the town of Vallam in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, India. It was earlier named "Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women". It is considered the world's first women's engineering college.
