Asia Square (Chinese: 亚洲广场; pinyin: Yà Zhōu Guǎng Chǎng), located along Marina View at Marina Bay in Singapore, is a twin-tower mixed-use development that will comprise 2,000,000 square feet (190,000 m2) of grade A office space, a 280-room five-star hotel, 60,000 square feet (5,600 m2) of retail space and 'The Cube', a 100,000-square-foot (9,300 m2) open public space used for networking or relaxing with a regular programme of exhibitions and performances. Tower 1 was completed and opened on 8 November 2011. Tower 2 is currently under construction and will be completed by 2013.

Introduction

Asia Square Tower 1 will feature 43 floors and Asia Square Tower 2 will feature 46 floors with the hotel, to be operated by the Westin Hotel (Starwood Hotel) group, occupying the 32nd to 46th floors. The retail space within Asia Square will be located on the 1st and 2nd floors in both towers.

The development will enjoy direct frontage onto the Central Linear Park, a public open park linking Marina Boulevard to Straits Boulevard. The development is located in close proximity to two existing MRT stations (Raffles Place and Marina Bay) and will be linked underground to the future Downtown MRT Station along the Downtown Line. Asia Square will be connected to surrounding developments at One Raffles Quay, One Marina Boulevard, Marina Bay Financial Centre and the future residential development at One Shenton Way through an extensive network of underground pedestrian walkways and second storey links.

The development will be served by the Common Services Tunnel, a comprehensive system of underground tunnels which will house and distribute utility service lines, including power and telecommunication cables. The future office tenants will have access to uninterrupted supply of major utilities, emergency back-up services and the capacity for expansion to meet changing utility needs.

Tower 1 was completed and opened on 8 November 2011 by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.[1]

Tenants

Citi is the anchor tenant for Asia Square Tower 1, giving Citi the right to the building signage. It houses Citi Asia Pacific, Citi Singapore headquarters and Citi Private Bank. Asia Square has also secured Julius Baer, Bank Sarasin, Lloyd's, Google, Marsh and McLennan Companies, White & Case to set up their regional headquarters in the development. Pure Fitness, the premium Asia fitness brand from Hong Kong will also set up their second Singapore club here after just launching in August 2010 at Knightsbridge in Orchard. The club will occupy the entire floor of level 6 at Asia Square Tower 1, a total of 32,000 sq ft, said to be Singapore's largest gym.

Westin Singapore Marina Bay will occupy Asia Square Tower 2, slated to open on 1 July 2014.

Environmental Sustainable Design

The development incorporates several environmental sustainable features. It will house the largest photovoltaic cells (solar panel) installation on the roof in Singapore and also the first bio-diesel generation plant in a commercial development in the CBD.

Asia Square has achieved both the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Core & Shell (LEED-CS) Platinum certification by the US Green Building Council [2] and Green Mark Platinum Award by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore[3], making it one of Asia's greenest buildings.
