Cost Free (only if the first card, or replace expired card. In case of lost, damaged card, or change in a significant data (For example, changing name or surname) there is 100 Baht fine to renew.[2])

The Thai National ID Card (Thai: บัตรประจำตัวประชาชนไทย; rtgsbat pracham tua pracha chon thai) is an official identity document, issued only to Thai Nationals. The purpose of the card is to prove and identify the holder's identity, for receiving government services and other entitlements. It is used as the Tax ID number (TIN) for all Thai citizens who are payers or personal tax [3]. It is also used for verifying identity of holder while transacting private businesses such as applying for a job or opening a bank account. [4] The Thai National ID Card is a smart card which contains the fingerprints of the holder.[5]
