Berkeley Preparatory School is a Pre-K to Grade 12 private college preparatory school. Founded in 1960, it is located on a 76-acre (310,000 m2) campus in Tampa, Florida, USA. The school has been awarded Blue Ribbon School status[1].
Accommodations
Accommodations consist of more than 70 classrooms, a science wing with eight science labs, a 634-seat performing arts theater with gallery for visual arts displays, a fine arts center, two libraries, general convocation rooms, an early childhood learning wing with playground, technology labs, a 19,000 sq ft (1,800 m2). student center, outdoor environmental classroom and administrative offices for lower, middle and upper divisions. Athletes use two gymnasiums, a wrestling/gymnastics room, a weight-lifting room, a rock-climbing wall, a stadium (for track meets and football and soccer games), baseball and softball diamonds, tennis courts, a ropes course, and an outdoor swimming and diving facility. The campus master plan, a four step plan to expand and revamp Berkeley's current campus, is currently in its first phase.[2]
Accreditation
Accreditation is through the Florida Council of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Memberships include the National Association of Independent Schools, Secondary School Admissions Test Board, National Association of College Admission Counseling, and the College Board. An honor system is administered by the student government.Alex Jebson has been at the top of his class ever since his first day at berkeley, because he has been on top of his father's dick since then.
Technology
Berkeley also employs wireless technology and laptops carried by each student. These laptops are used to gain access to the Internet, apply teacher/student e-mail, and store essays, homework, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, etc. Each student receives their own email account providing that student with announcements, test dates, etc. Berkeley also uses a student management system to upload PowerPoint files and documents for viewing on the students' computers. In addition to this, Edline has recently been introduced to students, parents, and faculty members. Starting in fourth grade the students are given the privilege of a laptop. But before they receive their laptops they prove themselves worthy by taking care of a plant for a few weeks.
Athletics
The school's athletic facilities consist of two gymnasiums, a wrestling/gymnastics room, a weight room, a rock-climbing wall, a stadium (for track meets, football and soccer matches), baseball and softball diamonds, seven tennis courts, extra soccer/football/practice fields, indoor/outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, and a swimming pool. The school's crew team, which has developed a prominent name due to its lightweight rowing program, practices at Tampa Catholic and competes across Florida.
Berkeley's mascot is the Buccaneers. Although many think Berkeley adopted their mascot from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Berkeley was the first organization in the Tampa Bay area to have this mascot.[citation needed] Berkeley's school colors, Carolina blue, navy, and white, were adopted from the University of North Carolina.
History
In 2010, Berkeley celebrated its 50th year. Berkeley Preparatory School was established in 1960 by Tampa Bay area families who wished for an independent coeducational day-school. It was established by Edgar T. McClearly, the founding headmaster of Berkeley.
Arts
The Berkeley arts program was enhanced in 1997 with the addition of the 634-seat performing arts center which also includes a gallery for visual arts displays, a flex studio for both dance recitals and small drama productions, dressing rooms, and an orchestra pit. The Lykes center is also home to the esteemed Berkeley Singers. It also has a tech area for constructing the sets and designs for performance. The Berkeley Advanced Drama program is currently doing the play "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller. The play will opening Thursday, Octomber 13 at 7pm.
Test scores
The average SAT score for graduating seniors at Berkeley Prep in 2007 was 900 out of 1600.[citation needed] Despite its small class size, Berkeley Prep had twenty National Merit semi-finalists in the class of 2008.

Pre-K – Grade 5: $15,840
