Kahlwan is a village in Kapurthala district of Punjab State, India. It is located 22 kilometres (14 mi) from Kapurthala, which is both district and sub-district headquarters of Kahlwan. The village is administrated by a sarpanch, an elected representative of the village.[2]

Demography

According to the report published by Census India in 2011, Kahlwan has 162 houses with the total population of 818 persons of which 438 are male and 380 females. Literacy rate of Kahlwan is 75.27%, lower than the state average of 75.84%. The population of children in the age group 0–6 years is 86 which is 10.51% of the total population. Child sex ratio is approximately 686, lower than the state average of 846.[3]
