Krypton is an upcoming American television series developed by David S. Goyer and Damian Kindler for Syfy. The series takes place on the titular planet, approximately 200 years before the birth of Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman and eventual destruction of the planet. Krypton is set to premiere on March 21, 2018.

Premise

According to IGN, Krypton will follow Superman's grandfather, Seg-El; whose family, the House of El, has been ostracized and shamed. Seg-El fights to redeem his family's honor and save his beloved world from chaos.[1]

Cast and characters

  • Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El: Superman's grandfather and Jor-El's father; athletic, quietly confident, and in his 20s. A younger version of the "grumpier" character from the comics.[2][3]
  • Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod: A reluctant cadet and warrior in the Kryptonian military, in a clandestine, forbidden relationship with Seg-El.[2][4]
  • Ian McElhinney as Val-El: Seg's grandfather, who defied death by going to the Phantom Zone and is a staunch believer in space exploration.[2][5]
  • Elliot Cowan as Daron-Vex: The chief magistrate of Kandor, charged with defending Krypton's oligarchy.[5]
  • Ann Ogbomo as Alura Zod: The Primus of the Kryptonian military guild and mother of Lyta. Alura shares her first name with Alura Zor-El, the mother of Supergirl.[2][4][5]
  • Rasmus Hardiker as Kem: An engineer and Seg's best friend.[5]
  • Wallis Day as Nyssa-Vex: A junior magistrate and the daughter of Daron-Vex.[5]
  • Aaron Pierre as Dev-Em: A "chiseled, twenty-something bad boy".[2][5]

Shaun Sipos and Blake Ritson will portray Adam Strange and Vril Dox, respectively.[6][7] Additionally, Seg's father Ter-El, Doomsday and Hawkgirl will also appear in the television series.[8][2] Paula Malcomson will appear as Charys.[9] Hannah Waddingham will play Jax-Ur.[10]
