Autonomous universities
There are six autonomous universities in Singapore.[1][2]
Autonomous universities in Singapore receive funding from the government and are given the flexibility to strategise, innovate, and differentiate themselves in their pursuit of excellence in education, research and service.[2]

Polytechnics
Polytechnics in Singapore provide three-years diploma courses and accept students based on their GCE O-level, GCE A-level or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) results. Most Polytechnic graduates will continue their bachelor's degree education with advanced standing options depending on the universities and courses they applied to with their Diploma.

Arts institutions
The two arts institutions in Singapore[2] provide three-years diploma courses as well as degree courses and accept students based on their GCE O-level, GCE A-level or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) results like the Polytechnics. Most NAFA and LASALLE graduates will continue their bachelor's degree education with advanced standing options depending on the universities and courses they applied to with their Diploma.

Private institutions
As of October 2016, Private institutions in Singapore are governed by the Committee for Private Education (CPE) as appointed by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Board under the Private Education Act. While private schools are required to register with the CPE, this is not an endorsement or accreditation of the school.[22]
Employers, organisations and individuals are to discrete the various school qualifications for recognition and acceptance purposes.[23]
