OnTrac is a logistics company that contracts regional shipping services in the Western United States. The company was founded in California in 1991 and expanded[3] to seven additional states: Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado and Idaho. Initial customers were document shippers that sought an alternative to overnight delivery in California versus national carriers. Their current service area[4] serves over 65 million consumers, or 20% of the United States population.[5] OnTrac is a privately held company.

History

OnTrac was originally called California Overnight and was formed from acquisitions of several small Canadian and American courier companies[6].

Divisions

OnTrac owns and operates three divisions that provide logistics services.

Overnight Division

The Overnight Division of OnTrac operates in the eight largest states in the Western U.S.: California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, and Idaho. The Overnight division of OnTrac provides priority, express, and ground parcel logistics services.[7]

Services

  • OnTrac Ground Service launched on August 1, 2011,[8] and offers guaranteed next-day, two-day and three-day service to its customers.
  • Sunrise Service is offered by OnTrac, which guarantees before noon.[9] for some regions and 3:00, 3:30 and 5:00pm delivery for other regions. Transit days vary based on the origin and destination.

In February 2008,[10] California Overnight changed its name to OnTrac to accommodate the expanding delivery footprint of the company.

Addition of Colorado and Idaho

On September 1, 2011, OnTrac added the major metropolitan areas of Colorado to its Overnight Division’s service area. This grew the Overnight Division to seven states, and added 3,641,453 people to its service area.[11][12] In March 2013 the major metropolitan areas of Idaho were added, as well.
