Sheila S. Coronel is winner of the 2003 Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature and the Creative Communication Arts. She is also one of the founders of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism. In 2006 she was named the inaugural director of The Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. In 2014, she was appointed Academic Dean at Columbia Journalism School.[1]

She is an alumna of the College of the Holy Spirit in Mendiola, Manila, Philippines.
