Brown is the highest-ranking elected official in the nation to have served a tour of duty in Iraq
[edit]This statement is made in two portions of the article. While it may have been true at one time, I don't think it is true anymore. For example, Allen West is a US Congressman and veteran. Dmcw127 (talk) 16:38, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed, especially since the source article is from 2008. I've prefixed both mentions with "In 2008," to clarify it was then that he was. —ADavidB 23:05, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Protocol puts a Lieutenant Governor senior to a U.S. Congressman. More importantly, the page has been updated to reflect that Brown is one of two of the most senior elected officials to have served a tour in Iraq. The other is John Walsh, the LG of Montana. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dothead (talk • contribs) 16:19, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Concern on NNPOV/unencyclopedic.
[edit]There are several statements in the Lieutenant Governor section which appear to NNPOV or unencyclopedic. Also, I'm uncomfortable with References which are Press Releases of the administration.Naraht (talk) 17:20, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'm in agreement. Brown's current campaign may have influenced some past editors. What changes do you propose? —ADavidB 16:52, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- COI note here. I'm a Maryland Democrat. (So my proposed changes may not go far enough). However I was prompted to look by someone who is apparently part of a Maryland Republican Candidate for governor, I'll try to get him over here as well. For starters...
- He should simply be referred to as Brown. He is referred to as "Lt Governor Brown" or something similar more times than ::President Obama is referred to as President Obama in his article
- Delete/Change anything with the phrase "Lead(s) to O'Malley-Brown's administration" or something similar.
- Delete "Lt. Governor Brown has become one the leading champions for the increased use of Public-Private Partnerships to advance infrastructure projects in Maryland"
- Reduce to the minimum necessary references from Press Releases
- *Add* the tables for election results, at least for the Gubernatorial election from Martin O'Malley's page with the addition of the LG Candidates for both Republican and Democratic. Add election results for the Maryland Legislature if can be located.Naraht (talk) 18:34, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
- I changed some of the wording in that section, but I'm sure more could be done to tone down the rah-rah wording, while keeping it factual. Bearian (talk) 15:03, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

- I couldn't agree more. This reads like a Brown campaign ad. I'm going to suggest/make some changes to make it more encyclopedic. Bond Head (talk) 20:02, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 3d Infantry Division
[edit]This is an inaccurate unit designation. With the exception of the two CABs in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), divisional aviation brigades are not numbered. For clarification contact the Aviation POC, Ned Bedessem, Force Structure and Unit History Branch, US Army Center of Military History, (202) 685-2732; DSN 325-2732. Mailing address: US Army Center of Military History, ATTN: AAMH-FPO (Mr. Bedessem), 103 Third Ave., Ft. McNair, DC 20319-5058. Email address: edward.bedessem@us.army.mil
During the late 1980s the Army expanded its divisional aviation assets from battalion size to brigade. To put themselves on par with a division's three maneuver brigades of infantry and armor forces, members of aviation brigades often began to erroneously refer to themselves by various inaccurate designations, such as "4th Brigade" (the 1st, 2d and 3d were infantry and armor units), or they used the same number as the division, such as "82d Aviation Brigade." Neither was accurate. The correct designation for each division's Aviation Brigade (other than in the 101st) was simply "Aviation Brigade." During the reorganization of Army combat forces in the last decade, these units were redesignated as "Combat Aviation Brigade." Additionally, Brown was no longer a member of the division by the time its aviation unit went from "Aviation Brigade" to "Combat Aviation Brigade."
Elsewhere in Wikipedia, this same unit is listed on the 3d Infantry Division's page as "3d Combat Aviation Brigade," which is equally inaccurate.VilePig (talk)
