POV

[edit]

How does the fence help Assami nationalist groups? (Fence just block the illegal immigration). The current statement is too POV.--nids(♂) 18:15, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Assamese groups claim that they are being swamped by Bengalis - Muslim or not. And they are. They want the fence to keep out poorer Bangladeshis who are entering Assam illegally. It is a flat statement of truth. What is POV about it? Lao Wai 18:29, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was talking about the attacking part. the exact statement in the current article is One of the reasons the fence is being built is to appease Assami nationalists who have repeatedly attacked the presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants .
while the statement in the news of reference is Indigenous Assamese fear they will be reduced to a minority if unabated infiltration continues. This fear will be further heightened by Bangladeshis brazenly uprooting border posts, grabbing land and colonising Indian territory. --nids(♂) 18:43, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Doesn't the source say exactly what the article says? Lao Wai 18:45, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The tone is different. Shall i change to the news statement.nids(♂) 18:51, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please do. Don't need to ask me. It's your article too. Lao Wai 18:58, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I hadnt asked you to do this. I just asked you to confirm the change, so that we dont enter into revert wars.nids(♂) 19:04, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This fear will be further heightened by Bangladeshis brazenly uprooting border posts, grabbing land and colonising Indian territory.. This sentence is extremely POV. --Ragib 19:01, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We can leave it alltogether. That was what i did in the first place.nids(♂) 19:02, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
shall i remove it.nids(♂) 19:04, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the sentence and the tone is obviously a POV, in this case, an Indian POV regarding India-Bangladesh border relations. Similar reports from Bangladeshi news papers and sites paint a different picture. --Ragib 19:59, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

India has always welcomed visitors and asylum seekers but not at the expense of getting her own citizens killed in violent attacks. Bangladesh has never cared about this issue as they never cared about their own people. Same with this sentence. A bit too political? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.215.82.45 (talk) 09:41, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Some indigenous Assamese fear that they will be reduced to a minority in Assam if unabated infiltration from Bangladesh continues" the use of infiltration when the correct word would be immigration (illegal or not) is very NPOV. perhaps a rewording? not just going to change it cos that's how flame wars happen. 188.220.151.59 (talk) 21:18, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Border clashes

[edit]

I think here should be a section telling border clashes that happened since 1972 between India and Bangladesh. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.226.157.86 (talk) 08:46, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BSF activities

[edit]

This, this and this paint and abysmal picture of BSF activities along the border. Can this be covered appropriately? Aditya(talkcontribs) 12:15, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is already covered in Border_Security_Force#Allegations_of_human_rights_abuses. Hut 8.5 13:01, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just checked. Wondering how to streamline these two articles to accommodate the information appropriately. Aditya(talkcontribs) 13:12, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
