Indian Boarding School comment

[edit]

Currently the article reads "At a time when federal Indian policy emphasized assimilation, Mount Pleasant was sent as a child to be educated at Indian boarding schools.[citation needed] (Note: Most Indian boarding schools were not yet established; Carlisle was the first in the 1890s. He more likely attended a religious mission school at that time.)" We definitely need a citation on this. I am not sure about the speculative note in parentheses, since Mount Pleasant Indian Industrial Boarding School which was founded in 1891 (and it would sure make sense that someone named "Frank Mount Pleasant" might have picked his new "assimilated" name up at boarding school called Mount Pleasant. Can anyone find the attendance rolls from that school online? Peace MPS (talk) 21:30, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
