The FAQ[edit]

These talk page FAQ's are usually useless and biased. In this case, the FAQ says "Why does the article use such a shocking photo", and then explains that there was a consensus to keep the photo (referring to the photo of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck). However, this photo was removed and I don't see any photos currently on this page that could be remotely described as "shocking". 73.170.137.168 (talk) 18:11, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Then it needs to be reinstated. Slatersteven (talk) 18:16, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The FAQ displayed here is actually Talk:Murder of George Floyd/FAQ. I'm not sure we should use the non-free image of Chauvin on Floyd's neck here, and no consensus that I'm aware of exists in regard to this article. We can talk about it, but in the meantime, some enterprising editor might want to create an FAQ specifically for this page (which could duplicate much of the existing FAQ). Should we go by judge rulings on every case on wikepedia?[edit]

I thought this was an encyclopedia not a book of law, either keep the truth or keep nothing, the future doesn't need falsehoods and politically motivated records. 24.232.183.230 (talk) 04:26, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What are you even asking? EvergreenFir (talk) 04:47, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, but is there is a court case yes, as that would reflect the findings of the court. So we need to know what you are complaining about. Slatersteven (talk) 12:22, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
IP24→, you are correct that we do not need falsehoods or politically motivated records. That is why we rely on the facts as determined by a jury and trial court, and not politically-motivated commentators. The actual facts as determined by the jury in this case are summarized in the decision of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Kablammo (talk) 13:45, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Posthumous pardon update[edit]

It says in the article that the posthumous pardon could be revised in 2024. If someone could see if this has changed, I think this may be important. (3OpenEyes's talk page. Say hi!) | (PS: Have a good day) 18:02, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We don't need this, it is pretty irrelevant. Slatersteven (talk) 18:04, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should we remove it or just keep it unchanged? (3OpenEyes's talk page. Say hi!) | (PS: Have a good day) 19:38, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Remove it. Slatersteven (talk) 08:54, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done. (3OpenEyes's talk page. Say hi!) | (PS: Have a good day) 13:01, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did not dispute the removal but the question is likely to be raised again. There has been a concerted effort to paint Floyd as a violent criminal (as if that justifies his murder). But this article gives more context to the circumstances of the incident and conviction, and notes that the prosecuting attorney supported a pardon. That should be kept in mind if (when?) the issue recurs. Kablammo (talk) 12:06, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When it is granted it matters. Slatersteven (talk) 12:13, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So in that case, when it is granted we should put it back? (3OpenEyes's talk page. Say hi!) | (PS: Have a good day) 15:11, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, we change it to "it was granted on....". Slatersteven (talk) 15:13, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Drugs and drug addiction[edit]

Isn’t it true that Floyd had heart disease and fentanyl in his system when he died? Did he actually die from ex fixation? Or did he have a heart attack and die? 71.247.65.168 (talk) 21:17, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The medical examiner's report and reliable sources say he died of asphyxiation from neck compression EvergreenFir (talk) 21:19, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are multiple parts in this article that contradict each other as well as your statement. LowerEntropy (talk) 11:25, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Such as? Slatersteven (talk) 12:44, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Messed up it has to say "white"[edit]

Does the colour of the officer matter? Any officer of any colour could of ended the mans life. The colour of the officer doesnt matter, only the act. 2601:84:8B01:CC60:B811:7281:C72E:AB31 (talk) 18:35, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
