Notability
[edit]Is a character in a video game really notable enough to have its own page? -- Resuna (talk) 16:44, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
"Other Appearances" and VGcats
[edit]You may have noticed that I deleted the section talking about how HK-47 appeared in a webcomic called VGcats. I felt that it was inappropriate to list this sort of information, considering that HK-47 is a fictional character not widely known outside those who are informed on KOTOR, and VGcats is a webcomic that is also not widely known. As it mentioned the dig at the constant delays in Duke Nukem Forever, this sort of information seems slightly more useful on that game's article, though I would still be doubtful of it. Not only that, VGcats is a webcomic focused on video games; therefore one would not be surprised to see HK-47's likeness within. If HK-47 appeared on something completely unrelated, say, The Colbert Report, that might be worth mentioning. Because of this minimal contribution to the article, I felt that the only purpose it served was to satisfy a big fan of VGcats determined to advertise the comic on Wikipedia in some fashion. If you really wish to put it back up, please discuss the issue on the talk page here. Syckls
Height
[edit]The HK droids are taller than the other party members (who are probably around 1,80 meters or 5'11"). Canderous Ordo 11:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- Since we can't specify exactly how tall each party member is I suggest we should merely exclude the information until further notice. 68.219.27.35 (talk) 17:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- No, since the information is from the official Star Wars site's Databank entry on HK-47. -- I need a name (talk) 17:34, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Quotes
[edit]I believe it would be really nice to include at least a short list of HK-47 quotes. They are after all very funny and some people search the net for hours looking for them.
- We can keep some quotes here in the article, but the main source for them should be Wikiquotes - check out wikiquote:Special:Search/HK-47. Quack 688 09:32, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
Name
[edit]Is it possible that the name comes from the Quo Vadis song Hunter Killer or is this just some kind of fluke? Unsigned
"Hunter Killer" is an old trope from science fiction dating back some time. It would probably be hard to find who used it first out of the uncountable many. In any case, the article contains a fairly credible source that defines the origin of HK-47's name (based on an interview with Bioware staff).Tarinth 17:13, 31 December 2006 (UTC)
i have a screenshot of HK47 talking about his definition of love, does anyone mind if i put it up?
it is one of the greatest quotes he has, other then the meatbag stuff in kotor1 :D
--Ditre 03:51, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
I always thought they just took two popular guns: AK-47 and HK-MP5, and mixed them together.
Star Wars:Galaxies
[edit]I just noticed the page is missing a section from Star Wars: Galaxies Trials of Obi-Wan. I'm going to try and work on a section for it. Revan 47 02:18, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Spoiler warning
[edit]I added a spoiler warning as there seemed to be a revelation at the end of the section about KOTR
Dragonkillernz 15:13, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Considering that the origin of the name have been explained by the creator of the same, isn't it time to remove the other speculations about the HK47 name? They add nothing more than a trivia section that really don't add anything to the entry —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.254.36.198 (talk) 04:57, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Voice
[edit]The article makes no mention of who voices the HK-47 character. Anybody know? --Muna (talk) 16:25, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Relation with Hitman (video game)?
[edit]"There can also be a connection drawn with Agent 47 of the Hitman series, who shares the same model number as HK-47. Both characters were created and engineered by their masters to become ideal assassins. In addition, the original title for Hitman: Codename 47 was Hired Killer 47, further adding credence to this theory. In Hitman, the game revolved around eliminating 4 of the 5 original creators, and in Knights of the Old Republic, HK-47 tells stories of the demise of 4 of 5 original owners. The revelation of the true origins of both are only revealed upon meeting this 5th "mystery" owner/creator. Also, in Hitman, the final mission has the hitman destroying the lab he was created in along with all his other clones. In Knights of the Old Republic II, HK-47's personal quest is to find the lab churning out the "cheap copies of himself" and destroy it (though this was later cut)."
With all due respect to the editor this sounds more like a conspiracy theory than the actual factual information that belongs in this article and encyclopedia. This information cites no reliable sources so I'll remove it until it can be proven, same goes for similar unsourced information in the same section, however I don't doubt the possibility of a relation between the two games. On a similar note I suggest we rename the "Name" section to something more along the lines of "Origin" or "Possible Origins" and include information on his creation both in game and in reality. 68.219.26.177 (talk) 23:44, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

GameInformer 2010 "Top 30 characters who defined a decade" text
[edit]Here is some text for this.
- "The Star Wars universe is filled with strange aliens, but it is the humanization of these characters that naturally endears them to us. Thus, one of the big achievements of BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic isn't simply that it is a fun Star Wars-themed RPG, but that it put its own stamp on Star Wars lore with a great story filled with memorable characters. HK-47 is the best of them, and his disdain for organic meatbags, juxtaposed with his loyalty and affection for his master Revan, makes him a hilarious and compelling character."
- [...]
- "HK-47's extreme misanthropic nature, nasty sense of humor, and delight in himan suffering betray some of our own violent desires in the game, hold a mirror to Revan's dual history with both sides of the Force, and highlight the over-arching Star Wars theme of the potential for good and evil in all of us."
- [...]
Tell me if you want more. It goes on about his history and whatnot, and more about what they like about him. Blake (Talk·Edits) 18:48, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- What's there is pretty good. If there's anything else that's particularly worth noting it'd be good, but the comments there are pretty useful as is. Harry Blue5 (talk) 21:30, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
