The Honda CBR 1100 xx is also sold in Australia and more commonaly known as a "Honda Blackbird".

The 2001 model year saw the introduction of a Candy Apple Red colour, a Candy Blue version followed in 2002.

Article currently lists configuration available in the US, says there are other variations in other markets, but doesn't specify them. Can we reference and specify them? RJFJR (talk) 05:09, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Maintenance and cleanup issues

The article basically has no references except for 3 2 that I once added to verify where the name comes from.

The "Specifications" section starts out with a table that is redundant with the infobox. It then switches format and becomes a timeline listing year-by year changes. Probably this should change to prose, describing instead the yearly events and rationale behind the decision to make the changes each year.

Moreover, there should be a section describing the history and development of the bike, starting with what prior models it evolved from (if any) and following the design process. I have a couple books that touch on this so I know the information exists; I haven't even looked at how many magazine articles were written about this bike. I would guess a lot.

It would be nice to find out why Honda quit making the bike, especially since Suzuki and Kawasaki continue to make the Hayabusa and ZX-14, nor has BMW abandoned this segment. Normally Honda doesn't cede ground to anyone.--Dbratland (talk) 05:35, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Sources and the story of world's fastest production bike

Over on Suzuki Hayabusa there are a dozen or more good sources that recount the history of the 1990's battle for fastest production bike, and the story of the gentleman's agreement to limit speed to 300kph. It seems to me if you're going to write a completely different version of that story, you need to provide significantly better sources. Otherwise, it makes sense to re-use the sources from that article and repeat essentially the same facts.

The current sources for much of the rider tests, horsepower, and top speed given here are anonymous fan pages such as http://www.zx11.info and http://www.motorsports-network.com/. Who wrote this article? When was it published? Is the author a journalist? Or what? Motorsports-Network is an "Online Shopping" site, apparently. It looks to me like self-published original research.

I know for a fact that there are many good quality book and magazine sources for this, so there's no need to rely on sketchy web sites. --Dbratland (talk) 16:36, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Your source is nothing more than a personal website put up by some guy named Tony. Who knows where Tony copied it from? The site motorcyclespecs.co.za doesn't test motorcycles; it doesn't even write it's own words It's rather obvious that the text and pictures on that site is pirated from other sources without permission or acknowledgment.

If we don't have a reliable source for controversial stats like power or weight, just leave it blank. --Dbratland (talk) 02:03, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
