Declined A7

[edit]

I have declined the speedy deletion nomination as a news search reveals many hits, particularly in German publications. Under normal circumstances, I'd jump in, retro-source the article and improve it to Did you know? status, but unfortunately women's fashion is completely outside my area of expertise! However, as it is Women's History Month and we are generally starved of articles of this nature, I would really like to see this improved. @MelanieN:, @Rosiestep: I'm sorry to drop this on your lap without having done anything more than removing the A7 tag, but I don't know where to start - can you assist? Wow, Ritchie, you found a tough one this time! I suspect she is notable, just look at her awards. Here's an acknowledgement of one of her awards in Women's Wear Daily. I will tidy up and copyedit the article, and format the inline links into references, but that's all I can do. You could look for Romanian speakers at Category:User ro. Of course we have lots of German speakers here (hello, Gerda)! --MelanieN (talk) 00:54, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Dang, I forgot to nowiki the category. (RE: Who do we know that speaks Romanian?) --MelanieN (talk) 02:50, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree; I think she is notable. I've wikified the article, and added cats. Who do we know that speaks Romanian?? --Rosiestep (talk) 02:03, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have a couple of quotable sources for you: this and this. The subject may be marginally notable (I say "marginally" because she's really only been involved in her field for a couple of years), but at any rate, the article does need some serious work. - Biruitorul Talk 14:03, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well I don't think anyone was proposing on taking to FAC any time soon ;-) .... for now, my aim is simply to help a new editor who's come in making 100% good faith edits only to be slammed with speedy or bot revert templates, and to try and disprove the very popular meme that articles of this type get hit with tags and deleted while trivia about The Simpsons survives. WP:BITE squared. Just an article that's got no tags ("Orphan" might be tricky but hopefully we can find a way of weaving a reference into an article about the awards, should they exist) would be good for now.
