– Sole subject of Wikipedia biographical entry bearing this exact name, thus obviating need for qualifier. James McAllister, presently a redirect to the Jim McAlister (disambiguation) page, should be the dab page's main title header (according to his article's lead sentence, Jim McAllister (Irish republican) was born "James McAllister"), but in any event, "James" is at least equally appropriate for the main header. The third entry on the dab page is a fictional character who has no mythic or cultural significance warranting the creation of an article and therefore will always remain as a WP:DABMENTION. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 19:39, 12 October 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 01:57, 20 October 2016 (UTC) --Relisting – see WP:ONLYONE.  Paine  u/c 18:24, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted, for the record, that the above-mentioned Jim McAlister (Scottish footballer) and Jim McAlister (American soccer) are not main title headers. Both are redirects, with the main headers appearing without qualifiers as Jim McAlister and Jimmy McAlister, respectively. Furthermore, Jim McAlister (disambiguation) and Jim McAllister (disambiguation) are separate dab pages for the same reason that those named Smith, Brown, Green or Reed have separate dab pages from those named Smythe, Browne, Greene or Reid. Thus, in the same manner that the unique names Jim McAlister and Jimmy McAlister use no qualifiers, so should the unique name Jim McAllister/Jim McAllister (Irish republican) be indicated without a qualifier. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 22:38, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There's been some moving around. The fact remains that there is no absolute topic for "Jim McAllister". In ictu oculi (talk) 07:07, 24 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The fact also remains that Wikipedia has only a single article bearing the exact name Jim McAllister in the same manner that there are sole entries for the exact names Jim McAlister, Jimmy McAlister and James McAlister. If these last three names are listed without parenthetical qualifiers, then the qualifier for the unique entry Jim McAllister (Irish republican) should also be deleted (deletion of the qualifier would require the renaming of the Jim McAllister dab page to James McAllister, which is currently a redirect to that same Jim McAllister dab page). —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 06:29, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
