I just added a lot of info from the bio that is the external link.

I also added certain bits that I knew myself (such as his family life and nonacademic publications he writes for).

does anyone know anything about Spence's poltical opinions or general attitudes towards Mao compared to other sinologists? Thanks

I guess not so good. In the bibliography you should add this one: Media:http://www.amazon.com/Chinese-Century-Photographic-History-Hundred/dp/0679449809 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.3.209.165 (talk) 17:08, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

His son?

[edit]

Is his son really a Scottish football manager? Call it prejudice, but frankly, I have my doubts! --OhNoPeedyPeebles (talk) 12:07, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

First ever online course about China

[edit]

User ArthurTafero has included information on a course he worked on for BarnesAndNoble.com and is specifically mentioning his own name. This seems to be rather blatant self-promotion (and plugging for BarnesAndNoble.com as well). Furthermore, it is not notable enough to include, and it is an unverifiable claim for which no reference can be found and which sounds more like something from Barnes and Noble's own promotional material for the course. I removed it and he undid my revision. I would like to know what others opinions are. -Devin Ronis (d.s.ronis) (talk) 12:11, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A few days ago, I moved this info to the "Honors" section, where it seemed useful and appropriate, though still unreferenced. The reference tag is normally left for long enough for somebody to supply it, so my suggestion is to leave it there and everybody will be happy. But I could not find any online reference to this course or to Tafero except on his website, so I agree that we should remove mention of this "honor" unless a reference is given within a few days. ch (talk) 20:13, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
