Kim SejeongKim Se-jeong – It will be in accordance with Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean) Kanghuitari (talk) 04:50, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Make corrections: Kim Se-jeong of Korea Times is a news reporter. ASZ News uses Kim Se Jeong. Sawol (talk) 08:21, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You are right, I didnt notice that this is the reporter; but still, there is I.O.I article where she is addressed as "Se-jeong" LINK Snowflake91 (talk) 10:43, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Most of the reliable Korea based news sources seem to use the hyphenated form. The Straits Times uses "Kim Se Jeong". Soompi and the other kpop fansites seem to use the non-hyphenated version, but I personally do not consider these reliable (lack of an editorial board for one). Weighing the options, I am in favour of using the convention by the news sources. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 14:10, 26 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please bring Kim Sejeong into focus. This debate topic is not about whole Korean people. Do you want "Kim Se Jeong"? If you want to talk about a new naming convention to pick one of Hong Gil-dong, Hong Gildong and Hong Gil Dong, go to Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Korean). Sawol (talk) 08:21, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support For example, a person name like Kim Yoona, someone read as Kim Yoon-a (김윤아), another one can read as Kim Yoo-na (김유나), but the two names are totally different. So we need the "-" for some people who is not-Korean or can't well-understand-Korean-language can read it easily and do not be confused it. Kenny htv (talk) 20:18, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Kim Sejeong does not confuse names. It is impossible to read this as Kim Sej-eong (김세엉). Your example is inappropriate. What do you think about the world-famous figure skater Kim Yuna? Kim Yuna can become 김유나, 김윤아, 김여나, and 김연아. This issue should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Please bring Kim Sejeong into focus. Sawol (talk) 01:45, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Kim Yuna is an exemption, "Yuna" is not even her real birth name as far as I know, and this could be debatable too since both "Yu-na" and "Yuna" are used by the most reliable sources, like this, this, this etc. Snowflake91 (talk) 10:03, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Two types of people that I wrote above can read Kim Sejeong as Kim Se-je-ong (김 세제옹). And I don't understand why you mentioned to Kim Yuna, I didn't talk about -eo (ㅕ) and -u (ㅜ), that's why I wrote directly Yoo/Yoon, not Yu/Yun. I mentioned here the problem of "-" to distinguish two different names. I think the wiki pages about Korean people is not only for the Korean readers, and I wish the Korean names can be written follow a unified form without exception.
