Live LilyMu last in the chronicles?[edit]

Now that all the episodes have aired, do any of you still think that Live LilyMu should still be considered to have happened LAST in the order of the internal events, instead of The Wizard of Ozu? It seems to have a "season finale" feel to it- the characters bow at the very end, many minor characters appear, and the production code for it is 226, indicating it was also the last episode made. Episode Notes Separated From Main Article reason for deletion?[edit]

The notes categories that used to be on this page was separated and moved onto an article of their own. Now it's up for deletion. As much as we all know Wikipedia hates notes, this is still relevant and interesting information, and loosing it would raise questions about the episodes that people would otherwise find an answer too. Was separating these notes into their own article the REASON for this deletion? No one ever made a fuss about them when they where on the same article as the episode list. The Birds[edit]

Mitsuki grandma[edit]

"It is revealed [in the episode Hog Day Afternoon] that Mitsuki has a grandma."

Help Me![edit]

Well, today I saw that TV guide's website has three more future KM episodes listed, so I thought I'd add them to the list. But the three episodes keep appearing under "See Also"! The Lost Pilot is NOT the first episode[edit]

Although it seems obvious, it is actually episode 8 in production order. The first episode is actually "The Switch". The Lost Pilot is just a flashback, which is evidenced by the fact that it's called The LOST Pilot and not just The Pilot. Nickelodeonfan2007 (talk) 23:50, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • You are correct in the production order, but it is first on this list because the events in the episode come before the other episodes, and the list is made in chronological order. Also, where did you get the idea that The Lost Pilot is a flashback? Karaoke Episode[edit]

Since this is the first TV movie, shouldnt this be the finale? since other episodes of season 2 will air after it abut those episodes are before the movie cronically? --Wikialexdx (talk) 03:03, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nicktoons never airs these episodes in the order they make them, OR in the order of the events within them. So Karaoke isn't the last episode. Plus, it ends with LilyMu going back into production anyway.
Also, TENT: TRIANGLE is the same as "La Femme Mistuki". NN lists the title of that episode that way in the tv listings. They are one and the same.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.126.157.32 (talk) 17:05, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have to disagree about Tent: Triangle. While it's true that "La Femme Mitsuki" always airs when Tent: Triangle is listed on the schedule, they are very clearly *not* the same episode. Read the descriptions, there's nothing remotely similar about them. Tent: Triangle - While on their way to the Japan Anime Awards, Mikey and LilyMu get stuck in an elevator. La Femme Mitsuki - A mysterious stranger from Mitsuki's past tries to convince her to return to the life of espionage. Nowhere in La Femme Mitsuki is there any mention of anime awards nor does anyone get trapped in an elevator. Several eps have alternate titles, but Tent: Triangle is not an alt title, the events in it's description have not happened in any aired episode. As far as I can tell, Tent: Triangle has never actually aired, and I can't seem to find any indication that it was even produced.
I know. The tv listings list a FALSE SUMMARY as well! There is no episode made with that summary, and therefore, does not exist.

upcoming episode aired on June 14, 2008[edit]

Season 1 Notes[edit]

The Lost Pilot

  • This episode reveals that Mikey graduated high school before looking for an acting job.
  • Lily is known for her "OMG" line. Since this episode is the first in the story line, it reveals that Mitsuki rather than Lily was actually the first person in the show to say it.
  • Mikey's chase sequence is reminiscent of the famous scene from The Beatles' A Hard Day's Night. The music playing, called 'Feels So Good', is composed in the style of the Beatles' songs.
  • During the touring montage, Mikey and his friends mimic the strange faces made by tanuki statues. Tanukis are animals in Japanese folklore, and statues of them are seen all over their country.
  • It is revealed that the limousine driver is the original Speed Racer
  • One of the tourists in the airport looks similar to Kakashi Hatake from Naruto.
  • One of the tourists in the airport looks similar to Hoshigaki Kisame from Naruto.
  • One of the characters at the airport looks similar to Mega Man X.
  • One of the people in the air port is Shippo from Inuyasha he also shows up in "The Fugi-Kid" at Mikey's hearing.
  • One of the first few characters seen in the airport resembles Chi from Chobits.
  • One of the auditions for the show is based on Astro Boy.
  • Although this is the Pilot episode, it was not the very first aired, thus the title The "Lost" Pilot.

The Switch

  • There is a little bit of foreshadowing in this episode as the crew talk about their rooms in Lilymu Towers, because of Guano being very secretive about his room.
  • This is the 2nd episode produced, but the 1st episode aired.

Ship of Fools

  • While everyone is shouting that they are Mikey, one shouts at random "I'm Spartacus!", as a spoof of the movie Spartacus.
  • In the same sequence, one of the costumed fans has a very similar appearance to Zangief of Street Fighter fame.
  • When Mikey is chasing people for the videogame, one of the people he is chasing looks like Chun-Li from Street Fighter.
  • Mikey and Guano crash their boat into a giant iceberg, a possible reference to Titanic.

Saving Face

The Fugi-Kid

  • Agent Yoshida is almost identical to Commander Amarao from the anime FLCL.

Easy Come, Easy Gonard

  • When Mikey owes Mr. Tatami 20 million yen, he says that he has 24 hours to deliver the money. Then a countdown clock appears in the middle of the screen and four split screens appear which is similar to the one feautred on the TV Show 24. Later Mikey sees that he has 22 hours and hits the timer at the bottom of the screen and alters it to 11 hours.
  • The ending LilyMu scene is similar to the ending scene of Back to the Future Part II.

LilyMeow

  • This episode reveals that Mitsuki has only one kidney, because she donated one to Lily.
  • Kello is a spoof of the Pokemon Skitty and Hello Kitty.

Splashomon

  • The whole episode is a spoof on the story formula utilized in the Japanese film Rashomon.
  • The episode starts with the usual cast screwup, but then pulls back to reveal Mikey watching it on Ozu's televison set like it was an actual Lilymu episode.
  • Mitsuki is afraid that Ozu will feed the Jade Tigerfish to Yesman, and Yesman holds up a rice bowl and says, "I haven't eaten in WEEKS!!!" However, during Mitsuki's story, Yesman is shown eating popcorn with Gonard.
  • This is the 12th episode aired, and one of few to be aired on Nickelodeon before being aired on Nicktoons Network

The Good, The Bad, and the Mikey

  • This is the first episode in which Mikey uses his catchphrase, "W'ever".
  • The music that plays in the Mikey vs. Captain Impressive scene is heavily based on the Michael Jackson song Beat It.
  • Lily is allergic to chamomile.
  • Lily discovers Mitsuki's crush on Mikey, after learning Mitsuki had a love interest and offering to coach her in the art of attracting boys. When Mitsuki refused to let on who her "crush" was, Lily had tried to imagine Mitsuki being romanced by Yes Man, Guano and Gonard, but not stopping to consider Mikey, always thinking before that Mitsuki "was kidding" about liking him.

Lost in Transportation

  • This episode premiered on Nickelodeon first, and was also the show's debut start on Nickelodeon.
  • The title of the episode is an obvious spoof of "Lost In Translation", a movie starring Bill Murray that takes place in Japan.
  • It was also Mitsuki's birthday, but it seems that everyone forgot about her.
  • Mikey attempts to escape his trouble with the Chums by dancing in a scene parodying Pee Wee Herman's famous dancing scene in Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
  • The song that plays during the montage with Mikey and the Chums hanging out bears great similarity to Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild".

Big Trouble in Little Tokyo

  • The title is inspired by the John Carpenter's 1986 film Big Trouble in Little China.
  • This is the thirteenth episode aired, keeping within the theme of the number 13 (It was the number of the secret room and considered an unlucky number).
  • The design of Dr. Igor is clearly based on Vash the Stampede from the anime Trigun. The small pair of glasses, familiar facial expressions, unnatural hight, and even his white zip-up coat echo Vash's character design.
  • The music that plays during the giant Gonard V.S. giant Guano scene closely mimmics part of Black Sabbath's metal hit "Iron Man".

The Phantom of the SoundStage

  • Nicktoons Network only airs this episode during the Halloween season, probably because they think it's a Halloween special. Some may consider this the "fake" halloween special. Being filled with numerous pranks, it's obviously got more of an April Fool's Day theme to it.
  • There also seems to be some Phantom of the Opera references as well.

Battle of the Bands

La Cage Aux Mikey

  • This episode spoofs the storyline of the classic French play La Cage Aux Folles, and the subsequent 1996 film The Birdcage.
  • When Mikey wacks the orb with the retractable hammer, the handle of the hammer is designed just like Mace Windu's Lightsaber from Star Wars Episode I.
  • The plot of this episode has been done by other high-profile cartoons, such as The Simpsons.
  • Mitsuki, due to her crush on Mikey, is usually seen being the first one to forgive him when he messes up. This time, however, she, along with everybody else, is slow to forgive him for screwing up their vacation and is enjoying his catering to them all being done to make up for it. Earlier, however, she WAS the first one to volunteer to help out Mikey.

Reality Bites

  • The reality show is an obvious parody of the show The Real World.
  • Gonard's very short dance sequence is reminiscent of the movie, Flashdance.

With Fans Like These

  • One of the Kappa Mikey fans resembles Kabuto Yakushi from the anime and manga series Naruto.
  • Based on production order, this is apparently the first time that they made it through a shot without anything going wrong, and the only time the episode began and ended with the same taping of the show, only slightly shortened.

Big Brozu

  • The LilyMu sequence at the beginning and end of the show is similar to the climax of The Matrix.

Uh Oh Guano

  • This episode makes reference to the fact that some dubbing companies, such as 4Kids Productions, edit nationally distributed anime series heavily. The American title of the show is a reference to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a similarly heavily altered adaptation of a Japanese show.
  • Gonard says "My kingdom for a Guano!", spoofing the famous "My kingdom for a horse" line from William Shakespeare's play Richard III.
  • Mikey's horse on the Lilymu sequence is named Sea Cookie, a spoof of the title character from the American film Seabiscuit.

La Femme Mitsuki

  • While walking Guano, Mikey can be heard whistling the Kappa Mikey theme song.
  • In "Mikey Impossible", Mitsuki said she has been on the show for five years. Mitsuki's final spy mission was also five years ago. It is likely Mitsuki started acting straight after she quit being a spy.
  • When Mikey offers Mitsuki movie tickets, the latter's inner self is similar to that of Sakura Haruno from the manga/anime series, Naruto.

The Oni Express

  • It is revealed that Yesman doesn't use the bathroom.
  • For some reason, the summary to this ep is listed on some sources (including iTunes) as "Mikey finds out Mitsuki has a crush on him; Gonard and Guano visit a candy factory'.

A Christmas Mikey

  • Nicktoons Network aired a second version of the same episode, with about a minute and a half of footage that was not seen on Nickelodeon.
  • This is the first episode where Mikey reciprocates feelings for Mitsuki beyond mere friendship when he kisses her on the cheek under the mistletoe before the ending.
  • The Super Gonard balloon from "Ship of Fools" can be seen above LilyMu studios at the very end.
  • Guano is revealed to actually be Ozu's lost son in an animal suit.

Season 2 Notes[edit]

' The Bracemaster'

  • The name of this episode comes from the movie "The BeastMaster".
  • At the Bracemaster's home, there is a character that resembles Chiyo's "Father" from Azumanga Daioh.

Hog Day Afternoon

  • The name of this episode comes from the movie Dog Day Afternoon.
  • This episode features one of the few talking Kappa Mikey characters to be animated in CGI. In this case, it is Mikey's bike after it comes alive.

Camp!

  • The acting instructor bears a small resemblance to Usopp of the famous Japanese anime and manga One Piece with his long nose and tendency to be over dramatic.
  • The boy who asks Mikey to sign his underware resembles Allen Walker from D.Gray-Man.

Free Squiddy

  • The subplot is an obvious reference to Katamari Damacy, and even includes a Prince-looking character.
  • After Lily says things couldn't get any worse, Yes Man exclaims he needs to go to the bathroom. However, in The Oni Express, it is revealed that Yesman doesn't use the bathroom.
  • Elements of the main plot spoof Free Willy, Splash!, Iron Chef and Emeril Live.
  • The two chiefs that appear in this episode beared the resemblance of Shin and Hiro Nohara from Crayon Shin-Chan.

Mikey at the Bat

  • The title is inspired by the American Poem, "Casey at the Bat", even though Mikey is never seen batting at all, just pitching.
  • How the Lilymu team is able to compete despite fielding a team of only five players instead of nine is never explained.

Go Nard Hunting

  • The title is based on the film Good Will Hunting.
  • The plot is loosely inspired by the novel Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes, about a janitor who experiences heightening and decreasing senses of intelligence through a scientific treatment. This story formula is frequently adapted into many other Saturday-morning cartoons.

Mikey, Kappa

  • The stick doll the kappas make as a warning to trespassers is a reference to the horror film The Blair Witch Project.
  • The crying Indian appears in the scene where the lake is polluted, spoofing his famous environmental television commercial.
  • The kappas slightly resemble the Pokemon Lotad.
  • Ozu states that he likes Mikey better than anybody else does at Lilymu, having no knowledge whatsoever about Mitsuki's love for Mikey, Lily being the only other cast member aware of that fact.
  • Wolf Boy resembles Kiba Inuzuka from Naruto in his love for dogs and triangular face markings.
  • For some reason, the summary to this ep is listed on some sources as "The crew visits Ozu's country home"

Script Assassin

  • The old lady with the cane is now given a name for the first time in the show: Ethel.
  • When Ozu and Guano are hugging, Ozu says, "My little boy is back", a rare reference to their family bond.

Mitsuki Vanishes

The Masked Tanuki

  • A tanuki is an Asian animal that exists both in the wild and as a figure in folklore, also known as a raccoon dog. The Masked Tanuki's outfit is that of a raccoon, which is not the same kind of animal.

Manic Monday

  • The story is inspired by the American film Freaky Friday, while the title is from the The Bangles's song Manic Monday.
  • In addition to premiering on Labor Day, this episode also premiered on a Monday, in coincidence with the title.
  • The idea of the tiki idol curse came from the television show The Brady Bunch. A more obvious homage is Ozu's flashback where he first discovers the idol, back in the 70's.
  • The magician from The Switch again has a major role in this episode, providing the magical bracelets.
  • One of Mitsuki's Do-Gooder friends mentioned that she had given a kidney to needy children, even though she had already given one to Lily, as mentioned in LilyMeow. This would mean that Mitsuki has no kidneys, making it a continuity error (she, like anybody, would need at least one to still be living).
  • When the girls swapped bodies, they took not only their own voices with them but also their own facial features.
  • During the girls' body swap, Mikey talks to both of them over the phone and, even without seeing their faces, still somehow doesn't realize who he's really talking to (thinking he's talking to Mitsuki while hearing Lily's voice and vice versa).

LilyBoo

  • The episode plot is similar to the movie The Ring.
  • This episode is the 2nd Kappa Mikey Halloween special.
  • Even though this is not the thirteenth episode to air in the order in Season Two, its production number is 213. This continues the tradition of having the 13th episode of every season to have a spooky theme.

Mikey's Place

  • The competitor restauraut is similar to Kentucky Fried Chicken, with the owner being similar to Colonel Sanders.
  • For some reason, the summary calls this episode 'The Heart of the Arena" even though the actual name is Mikey's Place.

Seven From LilyMu

  • The title and plot are inspired by the famous Japanese film The Seven Samurai. They could also be inspired by an anime based on this film, called Samurai 7.
  • The premiere of this episode wasn't seen in its entirety because of a broadcast programming glitch. The beginning and the first half of the episode was shown at the premiere, the beginning and the ending of the episode was shown at the encore (12:30 a.m. [eastern time]).
  • It is revealed that the LilyMu cast members supposedly use stunt doubles, even though throughout the series the actors themselves seem to always be seen doing their own stunts (though that is the point of stunt doubles looking almost exactly like the actors themselves).
  • The color of the submarine that Ozu, Yes Man, and Yoshi are trapped in is yellow, possibly a reference to The Beatles' song "Yellow Submarine".

Back To School

  • Because of the sheer number of new characters, Back To School holds the record for having the most guest stars ever in one episode.
  • The premise of the characters going undercover at a high school to catch criminals is similar to the famous manga Sukeban Deka.

The Clip Show

  • Clips are shown from Mitsuki Butterfly and The Wizard of Ozu, even though both episodes had yet to air (both were produced before this episode and therefore preceded it chronologically). Neither of those episodes premiered until six months after the actual series finale, Live LilyMu.
  • Ozu reminds Guano that "Daddy loves you", a rare reference to their relationship.
  • The gang thinking about Yoshi for 6 hours is a meta-reference to the fact that Yoshi is the principle character who appears the least.
  • At the very last clip segment with all the LilyMu action clips, the music playing in the background has a similarity to the song "Breed" by Nirvana.
  • During the series of clips focusing on Lily, the music playing in the background has a similarity to the song "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks.

Mikey's Memoirs

  • The jade tiger-fish from "Splashomon" can be seen in the background when Mikey is calling Yesman in the middle of the night.
  • The rock band Rockusa bears a striking resemblence to the popular heavy metal rock band Kiss.

Mikey And The Pauper

  • The title and plot are inspired by the story of The Prince And The Pauper.
  • Beef, Spartacus, Squiddy, the Oliver Twist street urchin, and Speed Racer all have cameos in this episode, while Jomar, Mr. Poopers, the ring master, the street performer kids, the circus clowns, and Fagin all make their debut appearances.

Tin Putt

The Karaoke Episode

  • The movie was advertised as Kappa Karaoke.
  • Heavy marketing was made to promote this special, including an online sweepstakes where ten winners received a Kappa Mikey guitar, and all the songs were compiled onto an actual album. It was also possible to hear all the songs a week before the special premiered.
  • This is the first Kappa Mikey TV movie, and the first original movie for Nicktoons Network.
  • Several references are made to musical bands and artists, including The Beatles cover to their Abbey Road album, Michael Jackson's Captain Eo, and Mikey is dressed as Bruce Springsteen and Angus Young during his first song. While dressed as Angus, Mikey further references him by playing his guitar in a similar style to him. During Ozu's song, "I Pull The Strings", Yes Man plays the guitar in reference to Guns 'n Roses member Slash, while Ozu is dressed like Axl Rose. Other references include Super Sentai, Marilyn Monroe, and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
  • The scene in "Do The Bounce", when the gang jumps up in the air, is a reference to the opening of Azumanga Daioh.
  • The crowd that can be seen during "It's In Your Heart" is mostly comprised of recurring characters from the other episodes.
  • Richie McMillions' name is said when Guano is done watching the news cast. In addition, the last scene in Tin Putt where everyone is happy is in the montage during the crew's first song. Tin Putt aired after this special, yet he is still mentioned and the last scene of Tin Putt was still shown, since the Karaoke Episode was produced after Tin Putt.
  • Oddly enough, in the montage during the crew's first song, there is another scene where everyone is in baby form, though this likely never happened, since Mikey didn't come to Japan and meet the LilyMu crew until he was 19 (although this might be a reference to their bond as a team).   • This episode parodies werewolf movies in general.

Live LilyMu

  • Even though three more episodes aired after this one, it is the ACTUAL season finale, as it was last in the production schedule.
  • Near the beginning, Guano introduces the prop comic "Red Head", who is just Gonard dressed differently with red hair. This little stint is identical to Carrot Top, a famous prop comic.
  • A lot of the commercials in this episode were already ads in earlier episodes, but with Japanese text added around them (for example, Guano's commercial for his fragrance, "Purple", was shown in "Go Nard Hunting"). Likewise, all the LilyMu skits they perform are altered versions of previous sequences from eariler episodes.
  • Kappa Mikey production people make cameos throughout this episode, but the only one voiced by his real counterpart is editor Dave Killen, who often does scratch dialogue for the animatics. Others include director Sergei Aniskov, the animation directors, and several animators.
  • Fan contest winner Lizzy also makes a cameo as a prize.
