Neutrality Questioned

[edit]

Her influence is vast? Well, I've never even heard of her until I was reading a NY Times review of Susan Sontag's early journals, and I have been following theater (particularly in New York) for over 30 years. Where is the documentation? Shemp Howard, Jr. (talk) 20:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For some one of such "vast inflence," there is a dearth of interest here. Shemp Howard, Jr. (talk) 00:01, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Please remove WP:PEACOCK words. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:58, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Error in Number of Obies

[edit]

The database for Obie Awards from InfoPlease (and the Village Voice) lists Forenes as winning six Obie Awards. Where does the 13 come from?Shemp Howard, Jr. (talk) 00:01, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I count nine awards using this Village Voice search engine. Aristophanes68 (talk) 18:17, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reason her influence was important and far reaching was that for the first time she wrote from a woman's perspective that created entirely different from the formula all plays were written with previous to her plays. Fefu and Her Friends, with its staging in different rooms of the theater, was an attempt to recreate the situation (the actual house) that all of the characters were in, and gave audience members a new perspective. This was a naturalistic approach to theater that had never been attempted in such a way with such recognition (Obie Award, 1977) before. -Devonee Trivett — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.118.215.241 (talk) 06:04, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article improvement

[edit]

Many assertions in this article are still uncited. Are the names in your references given correctly? They should be Last, first middle. Also, I don't think you got all of the important facts out of your sources and the external links. Also, what have the critics said about her plays? Cite some newspaper and magazine reviews. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:20, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, please add the references that are missing in the article (where it says "citation needed"). Information that remains unreferenced must, unfortunately, be deleted. Please read these important policies: WP:V and WP:OR. Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:02, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I just deleted an incomprehensible sentence that was added today. I also fixed the format of two new refs and removed an link to a useless Ebsco search page. See WP:CITE - obviously, full bibliographic details are needed for all sources. The article still needs lots more references, and the prose is weak. -- Ssilvers (talk) 06:35, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How long was the relationship with Sontag?

[edit]

An anonymous IP user has made an edit stating that the relationship was four years, not seven, citing "Edward Field". It appears that the user means Field's introduction to "Notes of a Nude Model" by Harriet Sohmers Zwerling, which is listed in the references, but no page number is given. I have no reason to suppose that Field's introduction to a book that is not about either Fornes or Sontag is more reliable than the statement in this L.A. Times article, which cites Rollyson and Paddock. If someone has more information, please discuss it here. By the way, IP user, it would be helpful if you would register a free account here. Here is why. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:47, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
