- Mario Beaulieu (politician) → Mario Beaulieu
- Mario Beaulieu (Canadian senator) → Mario Beaulieu (senator)
– Both of these are Quebec politicians. Currently, Mario Beaulieu redirects to the non-senator, after the article about the senator was pushed out of the way in June 2014. The non-senator does get more page views. —BarrelProof (talk) 05:04, 18 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 21:07, 25 September 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. No indication that the politician with more page views than the other politician is an internationally renowned personality with a high claim to WP:PRIMARYTOPIC status. Instead of serving as a redirect, the base name should be structured as a disambiguation page. As for qualifiers, one could be Mario Beaulieu (Quebec MP) [per Joseph Demers (Quebec MP)] and the other could be Mario Beaulieu (Quebec senator). Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 00:04, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
- A person does not always have to be "an internationally renowned personality" to gain WP:PRIMARYTOPIC status — he need only be the most notable of the people in the disambiguation line. If the two Mario Beaulieus are both Canadian politicians, then they can absolutely be compared apples to apples based on Canadian fame alone without needing even one non-Canadian to ever have heard of either of them at all — if one of them was from France, then there'd be a stronger case for evaluating international fame so that we weren't bogging down in a "mine is more notable than yours because mine is the one I've heard of" argument. But if they were both Canadians, then international fame isn't relevant. Bearcat (talk) 00:26, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
- If the key consideration for WP:PRIMARYTOPIC were to be that "he need only be the most notable of the people in the disambiguation line", then every dab page would have a primary topic. However, as we all know, most dab pages do not have a primary topic. Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 00:12, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
- Two points: 1) I think the threshold for primary topic status may be a bit lower when there are only two candidate topics – please see WP:TWODABS; 2) The ratio of page views is very high – about 17 to 1 in favour of the "(politician)". The senator only gets about 1.3 views per day, and the "(politician)" gets about 23 per day. —BarrelProof (talk) 01:05, 29 September 2018 (UTC)

- Support. The political party leader is definitely primary topic over the senator. Bearcat (talk) 00:26, 26 September 2018 (UTC)
- Support as the overwhelming WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in a WP:TWODABS situation, with 97% of the pageviews (even assuming every view of the senator came through the hatnote, the current politician would still have 94% of the views). Station1 (talk) 20:08, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- Support. "has international reputation" isn't a PT criterion. 17 times the views and indistinguishable historicality is a good indication of calling for a primary topic. -- JHunterJ (talk) 20:30, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- Support Per Station1 and JHunterJ, it was moved in 2014 but the base name was never converted into a DAB, if this move isn't done, then it should become a DAB. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:51, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
