Restoring this article to its original title

[edit]

This article has been moved from "Rekha Kumari-Baker" so it is now about the victims of the crime. The consensus when this article was discussed at AFD was for the original title to remain, yet the only editor wanting to see it moved, User:Youreallycan who is now banned, went ahead and did so anyway. It certainly makes more more sense to me for the article to be restored to its original title but I thought I'd ask for the input of others before making any changes.--Shakehandsman (talk) 16:46, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

At the very least I would have thought a more concise title was in order.--Shakehandsman (talk) 09:19, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved to Murder of the Kumari-Baker sisters. Xoloz (talk) 02:13, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Murder of Davina and Jasmine Kumari-BakerRekha Kumari-Baker – Article was moved from its original title to the current one against the consensus in the deletion discussion. Currently title is also clearly too long and the editor who made the inappropriate move is now banned. I am unable to revert the move myself as the required location already exists as a redirect. --Relisted. Xoloz (talk) 01:27, 12 April 2014 (UTC) Shakehandsman (talk) 16:05, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with *'''Support''' or *'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with ~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's policy on article titles.
  • Oppose per WP:BIO1E. The murders are notable and some of the related issues are notable (e.g., the policy review to determine whether the actions of others were appropriate and to establish appropriate guidance for social workers in future cases). But aside from committing the murders (and being sentenced for them), the perpetrator in this case does not seem notable. Perhaps some different title would be appropriate, but the article title should not be the name of the perpetrator. (There is no article entitled Adam Lanza or Jennifer San Marco.) —BarrelProof (talk) 20:58, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for you input, it seems the perpetrator's sentence was quite notable but nothing seems clear cut either way, hence this discussion. I don't have any strong opinions how the article should be titled, though i do feel the current name isn't very satisfactory, can you suggest a more appropriate alternative? What do you think to "Murder of the Kumari-Baker sisters"?--Shakehandsman (talk) 22:57, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
To me, "Murder of the Kumari-Baker sisters" seems basically OK and better than the current title. But I might suggest "Cambridgeshire murders" or "Cambridgeshire child murders" or "Kumari-Baker murders". Those are more succinct. —BarrelProof (talk) 01:14, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Probably not the best idea as there are at least 3 other highly notable Cambridgeshire based-murders on Wikipedia already, all but one involving children and all even more significant than this one.--Shakehandsman (talk) 01:19, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am very sorry to hear that. I am willing to defer to your judgment on "Murder of the Kumari-Baker sisters" versus "Kumari-Baker murders". —BarrelProof (talk) 03:23, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks once again for your input, hopefully we can finally give this article the correct title!--Shakehandsman (talk) 03:41, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think we now have a reasonably clear consensus about where we should move the page to then--Shakehandsman (talk) 21:06, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
