General organization[edit]

Just wanted to note that I dropped the text from the head of this talk page to the bottom, since it's disorganized (and some of it was pasted in twice). Also, I just reverted the article from the last edit, in which someone anonymously changed the article to say that Pallett is dating Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear (which to my knowledge isn't true). Absent any source substantiating that, I've restored the text about his boyfriend. Anthony Mohen (talk) 04:54, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

band NAME[edit]

It's a band... It says so on the website... --FlareNUKE 11:04, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

"Pallett is best known as the principal member of the band Owen Pallett (formerly "Final Fantasy") which is essentially a solo project" I find this sentence pretty awkward. Calling Owen Pallett a band is, in my opinion, a bit confusing. Could we refer to him as a solo artist? --Melinoe (talk) 12:59, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Not just confusing, but also silly and probably incorrect. I shall change it!--Teiladnam (talk) 23:47, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Milton, Ontario[edit]

Someone has linked Owen to Milton, ON--no mention in this article! Is Owen currently living in Milton, or has resided at one time, or even skiied at Kelso? Bacl-presby 15:36, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

On tour[edit]

I saw Final Fantasy last night so it would appear he's on tour! The whole page could probably use an update —Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.159.131.97 (talk) 00:39, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Les mouches.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Image:Les mouches.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hey Dad[edit]

Final Fantasy recently (October '07?) released a 7" on Tomlab's Alphabet Single series (X). The two tracks on X, recorded in Montreal with Zach Condon, predate the tunes on the full-length. The tracks - "Hey Dad" and "What Do You Think Will Happen Next?" are both live regulars, though, so they should be at least semi-familiar to Final Fantasy fans. I noticed a while ago that the song "Hey Dad" contained a melody borrowed from the video game "Super Mario Brothers 3" ; specifically it is the music from the "Coin Heaven" bonus/hidden stages. Also, the song is quite similar in melody and lyrics to another of Pallett's songs - "→". Both songs seem to concern interpersonal relationships within the family of President George W. Bush. This is my first post, so hopefully i can get this information up. (Scott the 1st (talk) 01:57, 10 May 2008 (UTC))

Is there any reason that Blocks is sometimes also referred to as BlocksBlocksBlocks except that www.blocksblocksblocks.com redirects to their web site? I can't find one there. Decklin 17:00, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

There is no reason. It's purely because of the website. Sorry.

Yeah, just to add some weight to that: the website is the only reason the Blocks Recording Club is called blocksblocksblocks. If we could arrange for it to ALWAYS be referred to as the Blocks Recording Club, that'd be super!Blocks.recording.club 20:04, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the fact that, according the web site, there are technically two members of Final Fantasy: I have created redirects here from both Final Fantasy (band) and Final Fantasy (artist). I can't decide between this being is The Right Thing vs. namespace pollution, or which would be preferable to keep in the latter case. Decklin 17:05, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

I wanted to continue the (currently) final paragraph with "Not surprisingly, the band's lyrics involve themes of...", but I couldn't think of a good way to summarize. I leave this to whoever would like to tackle it. Decklin 18:05, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

Who on earth else is meant to be shoehorned into the "violindie" movement? I can only think of Patrick Wolf, who really isn't a follower of Pallett, though they have met. Oh, and Andrew Bird, I suppose. 87.115.228.253 19:50, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Is "This Is the Dream of Win & Regine" an allusion to (This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan by Dntel? --Casiotone 13:14, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Short Answer: Yes. It's in an interview somewhere (he's got quite a few. I forget which one). I believe the electronic-like sound of the song was inspired by Dntel. --Orang55 07:58, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

does someone want to find a new picture? specifically, if someone has a goood photo from a show that they'd like to put out under CC or GFDL, it would be ideal. --Orang55 07:58, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

There's a lot of nice pictures over at www.Last.fm, could one not use them?

Question: Is Owen's birth year 1979 or 1981? Articles all over the net say '79, but on his profile on the SHzine forum it says '81.

Answer: 1979. --User:Johnpallett —Preceding undated comment added 00:39, 17 May 2012 (UTC).

Clarifacation of discography[edit]

I realize most of the information is elsewhere in the article, but should the discography be amended make some distinctions between Owen Pallett's projects, bands he's been a member in and albums that have been essentially work for hire?

His credit for the Last Shadow Puppets is listed as 'personnel' and including the discography as is doesn't make it clear how important he is/ isn't to these projects.Kreechur (talk) 17:22, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Final Fantasy[edit]

"In March 2008, Owen Pallett under the alias Final Fantasy, collaborated.." links to the _game_ of Final Fantasy. Is this intentional? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.81.91.41 (talk) 19:56, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

ZZT game author[edit]

Does anyone know if this is the same Michael Pallett-Plowright that created games using the ZZT game construction tool, such as the famous TIARA.ZZT (golden tiara adventure -- quest for coronation)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.203.44 (talk) 05:12, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, see this Zoilus interview. –Pomte 11:59, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
