See the following link for the DATES. Martial law was declared July 5, 1977. Lt Gen Rahimuddin was Martial Law Administrator (MLA). Justice Marri was sworn in as acting Governor. When CMLA Gen Zia ul Haq became President (when Ch Fazal Elahi's term ended), the civilian Chief Justices who were serving as acting Governors were replaced by the MLA's.

After Lt Gen Rahimuddin was promoted to full General, Lt Gen Sardar F S Lodhi HI (M) SBt was sworn in as MLA Balochistan & ML Governor. When he was injured in the accident/crash of an Army Aviation aircraft, the Corps Commander (Quetta) XII Corps Lt Gen Khushdil Khan Afridi was appointed MLA & acting Governor. Later when Lt Gen Lodhi retired, Lt Gen Afridi became Governor. He was the last military governor of Balochistan in that Martial law era. His term ended on 31 December 1985.

Failed Good Article nomination

[edit]

This article fails to meet the Good Article standards for the following reasons:

  1. Complete lack of inline citations; a References section alone is not sufficient
  2. The lead section is probably too long, and definitely goes into too much detail. See WP:LEAD for guidelines.

This is a good start, however. If someone puts more work into resolving these issues, they should nominate the article again (Unsigned)

New GA Review

[edit]

I notice that this article has been nominated for a GA Review again. Before this occurs I suggest that more in line citations be added to the article, otherwise the reviewer will most likely quick fail the article. The general rule within the Military History project is at least one citation per paragraph or block of information for a B class rating, it is even higher for a GA, so at a bare minimum it will need one per paragraph, plus more for any other contestable pieces of information (e.g. quotes, dates that incidents occured, biographical details, any opinions, etc). Just a suggestion. — AustralianRupert (talk) 00:18, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]
This review is transcluded from Talk:Rahimuddin Khan/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Hi there, I am afraid that this article has quickfailed GA due to severely substandard referencing as per 2(b) of Wikipedia:good article criteria (as noted by the editor above). I suggest that the article be referenced by at least three different reliable and reputable sources on this subject and that a reference be provided at least once every paragraph, in addition to those for any controversial statements and for any direct quotes and statistics. Without referencing to this standard, the article will never pass GA. Please see the list below for other problems.--Jackyd101 (talk) 00:02, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
Standard of prose is quite poor - the writer appears to have some difficulty with tenses among other things.
Please note that it is quite easy to merge military and politician infoboxes.
  • It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
Massive stretches of unsourced text, including the entire article below "The Al-Zulfikar airplane hijack". In addition, sources are improperly formatted and several sources that are given clearly fail WP:RS
  • It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
Sources are so inadequate it is difficult to tell.
Sources are so inadequate it is difficult to tell.
  • It is stable.
  • It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
a (tagged and captioned): b (lack of images does not in itself exclude GA): c (non-free images have fair use rationales):
  • Overall:
    a Pass/Fail:

Thankyou and I am sorry the review was not more positive, if you disagree with my assesment then you are more than welcome to take the article to WP:GAR. I hope you have better luck next time, all the best.--Jackyd101 (talk) 00:02, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inline sources which are not very clear nor properly verifiable

[edit]

Are the following sources (which includes but not limited to a slideshare document, a book which is consisted upon / derived from the articles published in Wikipedia, Wikipedia's own articles, a supposed encyclopedia entry not matching the name or surname of the subject, material which isn't openly available and without page number or the author's name and "Punjab Patwari Recruitment Exam 2020 | 10 Full-length Mock Test For Complete Preparation") acceptable by the Wikipedia along with the edit histories' statements claiming to be an associate and relative or descendant of the subject and with the following justifications

  • "I'm a fellow Pashtun and Wikipedia user and just want to ask you for assistance in a matter. You are aware that this user McKhan has been involved in vandalising Pashtun articles." and
  • "As you and I know both know it's very difficult to find "Open Sources" to fullfill our ancestral history but we still manage to get sources and have the hard copies with ourselves."

on the trail of canvassing for support by Kkhan0818 here and here?

--- Added by PashtunTribal548 here, here, here and here in Rahimuddin Khan

--- Added by Kkhan0818 here in Rahimuddin Khan

--- Following is a detailed response about the sources [5][6] used by from the pertinent team:

"@McKhan: As to the first, if someone claims that this work supports a given statement on Wikipedia, they should be able to pinpoint to the relevant entry/page.' Since Rahimuddin Khan does not start with a letter between B and H and since (alphabetically-arranged) encyclopedias typically do not have an index, I don't see how I would ever find what they rely on. As to the second, since you seem to know that it is a collection of Wikipedia articles and since the publisher specifically says so (see here: "composed entirely of articles from Wikipedia that we have edited and redesigned into a book format"),''' I would respectfully submit that there is no need for any volunteer to waste their time trying to get ahold of this resource. Besides, no library knowingly acquires such books, and to the extent that a national library holds a deposit copy, these are generally more difficult to obtain than "ordinary" books. Again, I see no point in pursuing this request. Best, — Pajz (talk) 12:45 pm, Today (UTC−7)"

Doesn't' it seem like that someone is pushing his/her POV (i.e. agenda) by exploiting a "loophole" of not using open and verifiable sources to corroborate with his edits to Wikipedia articles?  McKhan  (talk) 14:37, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus on general picture

[edit]

Was receiving messages for a while about how I am removing the picture as General in favour of the picture as Major. When I thought to put in a higher quality picture as general, which is more recent, i have been told by user @Jkaharper and rightly so to seek consensus on talk page. propose the image of LTG Rahim in infobox, with his younger image in the early life section. Buttoner (talk) 23:12, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The image is Rahimuddin_CC.jpg

My own preference is to keep the existing picture as it’s a portrait and therefore looks better served in the infobox. --Jkaharper (talk) 23:29, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Almost all military officers have an infobox photo of their highest rank. The ideal thing would be to satisfy both aspects: a portrait as general. If that's not available, my opinion is that Rahimuddin_CC should work. Luckyce (talk) 01:18, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Death
