Lookalikes

[edit]

The article claims, without giving a source, that "Although Skippy played Asta in the first two Thin Man films, other terriers, trained by the Weatherwax family and by Frank Inn, took on the role in subsequent films of the series, and in the television show.". This is not consistent with other sources covering Asta/Skippy. So, is this actually true? Considering his age when those movies were made, I don't see why the wouldn't just have used him.--212.89.216.96 (talk) 14:59, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Asta or Skippy?

[edit]
  • This article needs to decide whether it's an article about Asta, the character, or Skippy, the dog -- or at least make the distinction between the two clear. At times it uses "Asta" to describe the dog (specifically in the lead and in references to other movies) when it should be Skippy.
  • If someone else doesn't fix it I will eventually, but I hoped someone who already edited would let me know what the plan was and fix it. 76.114.86.121 (talk) 18:38, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree completely. This article is about Skippy, not Asta, and should be renamed Skippy, with Asta as a redirect. The article falsely stated that "Asta was born Skippy" or some such rot -- but that's not rtrue, so i took it out. He was born Skippy and was known as Skippy in the public eye for the entire decade of his film career -- he appears under the name Skippy in the 1936 book "Dog Stars of Hollywood," and in the quote given in the article -- and his name was never changed to Asta. He was Skippy. cat yronwode, not logged in 64.142.90.33 (talk) 08:17, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Skippy is not a Jack Russell Terrier; he is a Wire Haired Terrier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.196.90.188 (talk) 20:22, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Wire Haired Terrier" is not a breed. This animal is a Wire Fox Terrier. Article will be changed in the interest of accuracy.109.255.208.135 (talk) 16:38, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • The article now claims the exact opposite, namely that he was indeed renamed to Asta. So, which is it?--212.89.216.96 (talk) 14:59, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Let's talk about Skippy!

West or East?

[edit]

The name of the trainer has been changed from East to West. What is the reality? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esbboston (talkcontribs) 05:18, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistency!

[edit]

Text states that Skippy appeared in three Thin Man movies, but Filmography asserts that he appeared in FOUR Thin Man movies. Pls resolve! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.243.182.59 (talk) 15:07, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
