What happened

The page on assassinated Italian politician Aldo Moro contained an entire section devoted to fringe theories about the assassination. The violent anarchist Red Brigades admitted responsibility over 30 years ago, and his assassins were convicted of the crime. Despite this, almost half of the section on Moro\'s death dealt with the idea that his murder was committed by the CIA and NATO. Included among its sources was a conspiracy theory magazine. The entire section was slander, and I deleted it immediately. Massive deletion, yes. Vandalism, no.

We were talking about the alleged necrophiliac rape by Achilles on the trojan queen.

Since when is the word \'rape\' an obscenity? For God\'s sake, must we all speak and write in euphemisms now to avoid the thought police?

I see now why I haven\'t been back to Wikipedia in 2 years. I think I\'ll be on a another long holiday.

I reported this a LONG time ago, and I still haven\'t seen any action on it. A particular article had become far too large, so I made lots of edits, stating the reasons for each edit. And now the edits have been made by someone else. I just want the dumb notification off my talk page.

ClueBot reverted the word \"homo-erotic\" to \"homosexual\", but in fact I believe the correct word in this context (describing themes in a painter\'s work) is \"homoerotic.\"

HISTORY: The word in this sentence had been \"homoerotic\" for at least a couple of months, until someone else changed it to \"homosexual\" quite recently. Then a third editor came along and changed it to \"homo-erotic\" (with a hyphen). This last change was reverted by ClueBot, I believe erroneously.

I included the information in the edit field. The material I deleted was material that the original poster Rderminer had transcribed from printed sources that are not in the public domain. Also, all of the bullet point material was cut and pasted from a for-pay database Contemporary Authors. You can see that Rderminer included bizarre attempts to cite the material but it is still reproduced directly from the source material word for word.

In terms of Hemingway scholarship, the edit made was sound. There are several instances which allude to Jake\'s physical injury (the use of the word \"funny\" to describe his injury, him looking in the mirror, the ward full of pilots with a similar injury)which was the mutilation of his penis. The injury was extremely common among pilots in WWI. In spite of this, Jake\'s testes are intact so he is certainly not \"impotent\". Jake picking up the prostitute Georgette is clear enough evidence of this.

Changing a good edit because of the word \"penis\"? C\'mon.

The article in question previously was a combination of definition and a compilation a anecdotes and stories from a variety of sources, none of which were referenced. The effect of all the prosaic form obfuscated the objective description of the long rifle.

Although the edit I substituted did delete en masse the unreferenced prose, it agrees with the origins of the long rifle as posited in the original, while referencing an article, which in turn references several foundational published books on the subject.

I would have preferred to sort through and referrence the original Wiki entry, but in attempting to do so the amount of references needed and the shifting focus of some of the material led me to conclude a more definitional approach was warranted.

An anon changed the Māori phrase from \"Rei putha\" to \"Rei puta\", meaning \"whale tooth\". While I don\'t speak the language myself, I am reasonably sure that \"rei puta\" is correct. See for example [48]. Also, there is no \"th\" in Māori.

I have reapplied the correction to the article.-gadfium 20:13, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

I believe one of the citations I included for reference contained a play on words (the website\'s name or etc. is a portmanteau of \"celebrity\" and \"bitchy\", spelled \"celebitchy\" or something like that.

The bot probably mis-identified the inclusion of the reference to \"celebitchy\"\'s website as vadalism, seeing the word \"bitchy\" in it, and wiped out the whole valid entry made.

I\'m manually archiving parts of the reference desk, because the automated bot that usually does it isn\'t working at the moment. If you want more details, see the Reference Desk Talk Page. There are some others who are doing some archiving, but given the numbers stepping forward I can\'t not help out.

Archiving the desks involves (among other things) cutting a day\'s worth of questions from the top of each desk. Cluebot readding this makes the desks bigger again, and harder to load.

I know this is hard to filter for, but it would be really handy if these edits did not get reverted. I probably won\'t do any more archiving until morning (for me), but Cluebot might catch other helpful people in the next few hours.

I removed a large chunk of text which was original research, citations needed. This action was supported by two editors on the discussion page long ago, and nobody has argued against this action since then, so it seems correct to finally remove section called \"Scope of claim\". The section was also marked with tags asking for citations and references for a long time and the original author has ignored this.

Quote from the discussion page:

\"Scope of the entire claim

Why do we accept a big chunk of original research like this section which takes up half the page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roger491127 (talk • contribs) 17:42, 8 January 2008 (UTC) I totally agree, \"Scopre of the claim\" has no references and therefore should be deleted. 61.95.65.186 (talk) 06:27, 31 March 2008 (UTC)\"

When people look up \"Lost in Blue\", I want the page to show that there is a video game and a band called \"Lost in Blue\", not go directly to the Lost in Blue 1 video game site.

The band Lost in Blue has been using that name since 2000 while the game came out 5 years later so I think it\'s more than fair that a list shows up when people look up \"Lost in Blue\", not have Wikipedia take them directly to the game site.

Thanks!

The cluebot has more than once removed references to the fact that The Dead Milkmen\'s song \"Bitchin\' Camaro\" includes a reference to Tony Orlando and Dawn. I added another reference, and then got suspicious and checked the history (there\'s at least one other removal ... I don\'t have the ID handy).

The song does exist, what somewhat well known, and Wikipedia includes a relatively extensive Dead Milkmen page. Here is the reference to the lyrics to the album version:

Also once my edits are fixed I need to remove the thing at the top of the page saying there are no references. I added a reference to one of the topics discussed about electrical conductor sizes.

The \"Mass Edit\" that I made to the Death Chart, was a mere update by adding more characters, and possible suspects to the chart, since the Killer may possibly be someone besides the main 25 characters.

I added the choice of \"This person was kidnapped by the Killer,\" because Madison was kidnapped in the most recent episodes, and interviews have hinted that Abby may be kidnapped as well.

I added the choice of \"This person was absent for this episode,\" to possibly help narrow down suspects who would have had the oppurtunity to commit the murders.

I do not feel my Death Chart should have been reverted, because it was all pertinent information, and I did not delete any information, merely reorganized it.

Sincerely,

User 96.42.32.64

The \"Global hectare\" page has been subject to at least 4 wrong edits - the first paragraph of the page is utter nonsense. It seems to have been some \'inside joke\' between to persons, and I tried to revert/undo the changes to the first incident. The last correct version was 15:34, 1 May 2009 GrouchoBot (talk | contribs) m (3,004 bytes) (robot Adding: es:Hectárea global)

Versions since those have tried to correct the first paragraph without checking whether it is even slightly in place, it seems. Anyway, Cluebot probably thinks that the last revision was correct, while we have been off-track for those revisions:

  1. 00:43, 28 May 2009 Bobo192 (talk | contribs) m (2,851 bytes) (Reverted edits by 203.208.91.58 (talk) to last version by 144.139.41.211) (undo)

All of those contained the first paragraph \'out of nowhere\'. It used to be a good article before that point. Please revert it to GrouchoBot\'s revision and ehh, maybe take the Cluebot warning of my IP?
