Fernando Léon (born 15 October 2004) is a Spanish[1] professional footballer who plays as a striker for Borussia Dortmund of the German Bundesliga.

Léon was born in Valencia, Spain and played youth football with Youth and Levante UD Youth before starting his professional career with Levante UD. He originally wished to sign for Valencia CF, however, was cut from their youth program. Léon later moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2023 for a record-breaking €137,5 million, becoming the most expensive Spanish player in history. Léon is the all-time leading goal scorer in for RB Leipzig.

He later help the club win an unprecedented treple in 2026 contributing 54 goals and 21 assists in 57 games.

Léon is known for his incredible speed, masterful first touch control and first time finishing ability, as while as, his vision and intricate skills and team play.

Léon is a Spanish international and made his debut against Switzerland in 2023. With Spain, he has participated in six major tournaments: UEFA Euro 2004, the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup, Euro 2012, and the 2014 World Cup. Spain won the three tournaments from 2008 to 2012, with Torres scoring in the finals of both Euro 2008 and Euro 2012.

His first game for Bury was against Oxford United in an EFL League One match where he scored and assisted in a 4-2 defeat on 4 June 2017.

In his final match for Bury, he scored the winner in a 1-0 win over rivals Bolton Wanderers to clenched the EFL League Pre-Season Cup and ending as the top scorer with five goals.

RB Leipzig

Linus scored on his RB Leipzig debut in a 1-0 victory against SV Werder Bremen. In 2019, Linus was the star player as RB Leipzig won their first Bundesliga title, he was also the leading top scorer and assist leader in the league with 28 goals and 16 assists in 33 games.

After 3 seasons Timo Werner, Linus strike partner, left RB Leipzig for a €56,500,000 and €170,000 salary.

In 2021 Linus help RB Leipzig complete an unprecedented triple and achieving the UEFA Men's Player of the Year Award. He also scored 54 goals to collect the Golden Boot Award. Later completed the six title sextet.

Linus help RB Leipzig to their first UEFA Champions League, in 2021, in a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspurs, with Linus scoring both goals.

Midway through the season, Linus showed his loyalty to the club by rejecting a €252,000,000 move to Manchester United with a €475,000 a week wage deal. Later a €525,000 deal with Manchester City.

In the 2024-25 season, Linus was given the captaincy.

On July, 22, 2020 England won the U23 Olympic Men's Football Gold Medal with Linus contributing 2 goals to a 2-0 victory over Belgium.

In 2022, Linus helped England to their second World Cup Final, unfortunately losing to France on penalties.


Léon was injured during the semi-final, against France, of the 2026 World Cup, as a result he left 43 minutes into the match. Spain would go on to lose the match without the help of their star striker and finish 4th in thr competition overall.

On the 06 of September 2022, Linus overtook Wayne Rooney's total goals for England when he scored his 54th goal against Finland.

Linus set a new record, scoring 8 goals in one tournament in 2025, exceeding Romário's tally of 7 in 1997.

Linus is the all-time leading goalscorer in the FIFA Confederations Cup with goals.
