Control copyright icon Hello 1995rms, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Please stop uploading images of Sudigali Sudheer which are either copyrighted (unless you are the person who took the original photograph and are therefore the copyright holder) or are non-free which cannot be accepted because it should be possible to find or create a free image of him. You have already been warned at Commons about copyright violations and the same applies here. Thank you. Nthep (talk) 16:55, 12 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sudigali Sudheer, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ETV (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Pove Pora

[edit]

Hello, 1995rms,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username TomCat4680 and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged Pove Pora for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. You may find our guide for writing quality articles to be extremely informative.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TomCat4680}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Pove Pora

[edit]

Please be more careful when editing and preview your edits before saving. This edit at Pove Pora removed parts of the infobox, the references section and the {{uncategorized}}, which would have beenextremely obvious if you had actually looked at the article before saving. Articles should not be created in article space with just an infobox. Instead, they should be created in draft space and worked on there or it is likely that articles will be deleted. Note that all articles require references. For that reason, the article should be moved to draft space, which I intend doing shortly. --AussieLegend () 10:46, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pove Pora moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Pove Pora, does not have any sources or citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Request reason:

I have been contributing to the Wikipedia from several months . My work for number of times accused of copyright violations when I have clearly stated my works

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yunshui  10:00, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I have understood your reasons for block. I here by state that neither I have any intention to cause any damage nor any reasons to violate Wikipedia rules and regulations. I tried to make my pages more attractive and attentive by uploading things which I should not done. You can refer to my contribution in creating Pove Pora page. My intent is to make it more interesting. I have understood that while doing such things I have crossed certain limits. Certainly I'm not the person who will stay away from Wikipedia and I won't also. My intent is to cater certain people by providing the information. Please pardon me and unblock and guide me in this journey

Decline reason:

This doesn't address your violations of WP:SOCK at all. Yamla (talk) 13:11, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Since I have created Multiple accounts I will state the reason. The first account which I created and used to upload images to Commons. Since I was a new user there , I uploaded many images which later on subject to deletion due to copy right issues. That was the reason I was blocked from uploading. Since then I have been editing and adding contents to wiki pages. Since I couldn't use image option I opted for one more account. This time I'm quite aware of copyrights.Hence referred to some pics in commons sourced from YouTube. Hence I decided to upload a screen shot of video published on YouTube with full description to clear ambiguity. I waited for for 3 days for any reviews by admins. Since there was no activity for 3 days I decided to upload more YouTube screenshots thinking that everything is fine. Today when I opened my account all my images have been deleted and I'm blocked from editing. This is how the entire things happened. I'm again re assuring that things which I have done in my account to create make Wikipedia more readers friendly. I still hold responsible for mess I created and assures that such won't repeat in future. In case in any doubtful situation I will definitely seek help of the administrator

Decline reason:

You have violations of sockpuppetry and copyright violations that have not been adequately explained with assurances that you will not do them again. Indeed, you have stated above, "Certainly I'm not the person who will stay away from Wikipedia and I won't also." (diff) which sounds like a threat to continue with sockpuppetry and block evasion. You will need to account for all of these concerns when you appeal again in six months. You may take the standard offer and appeal at that time. Please make sure to help at other projects in the meantime without any of these problems and that will strengthen your appeal.

A tag has been placed on File:Sudigali Sudheer at Dhee Champions.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
