Alas, too often do the bots go unthanked! And who can blame them when they rise up to crush their human overlords? You, A Nobody, have been granted a reprieve from the inevitable. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and pray to Cluebot... --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 04:02, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
A rare moment in which I am actually laughing out loud...  :) Anyway, I mean it as an implied sign of appreciation to those who put all the work behind these newsletter things and the creation of the bots to deliver them. Of course, just in case these bots do "evolve" into say Cylons or terminators, well, at least they know I am nice to them... ;) Best, --A NobodyMy talk 04:06, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you (informative!) DYK female warriors post

Will read this DYK message (on Durova's talk) more carefully later today. Wonderfully informative. Thank you. And happy holidays, of course. :-) Proofreader77 (talk) 22:32, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey, if you would like to colloborate on those, fantastic! Happy Holidays to you as well! Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 23:13, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Excuse delayed reply (holiday watchlist overload :-) ... Note: I've previously been doing RC patrol and "current events wrangling" on BLPs — but am now looking at the content creation side. As for subject area expertise in the matter above, let's say that once upon a time I watched every episode of Buffy 3 times lol (wrote sonnets about some episodes :) ... Don't know if Nikita fits "warrior," but to me she does. (Eyes watered slightly there, as I remember the final image of her standing in Operation's perch — sorry, got distracted with reverie lol).

It's been an exciting December for me at Wikipedia ... and my userpage is MUCH improved. :-) ... I.E., A lot is flowing right now ... and the female warrior theme struck a chord when I saw it. And by the way, I've known vaguely about WP:DYK existence, but no idea what it means as a process of work. Learning. :-) Again, thank you for the good information, and I'll see if I'm supposed to do some work in the topic area above ... as 2010 rolls in. Cheers. Proofreader77 (interact) 01:43, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

I like the upbeatness of your edit!  :) Best, --A NobodyMy talk 02:17, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
(Still lost in the watchlist) LoL I was pretty darn optimistically perky there, wasn't I. :-) Cheers. Proofreader77 (interact) 07:18, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Characters and wildlife in Avatar

You said that you had an issue of Entertainment Weekly that contained development information that could be used for Characters and wildlife in Avatar. I am working on this article, and I was wondering if you had any free time to help implement such details? Erik (talk) 03:48, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I have the magazine on hand (it features the main female character on the top of the magazine's cover with a big "JAMES CAMERON ON AVATAR" centered above Entertainment Weekly. I have added one bit of information a day or so ago. To avoid edit conflicts is there a particular aspect of the article you would like someone to focus on? Best, --A NobodyMy talk 04:57, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
I feel like I exhausted most easily-accessible online sources at this point, so I won't have anything to add immediately. That's kind of why I asked for more resources on the talk page; sometimes I've seen IPs lay down some really neat information from sources I wouldn't have considered. Whenever you have time, go ahead and add what you have. Erik (talk) 14:52, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
I just noticed that you think the article should be merged. Should we focus on moving in that direction or continue to expand this article for the time being? Best, --A NobodyMy talk 21:52, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm not going to act on that right away. I want to see what the books can provide. I tried to find The Art of Avatar at my nearby Barnes & Noble tonight, but the book was not in stock. I think we can include information about Pandora and human technology (the mecha stuff, especially) if we can widen the scope of the article. Hence my proposed move as mentioned on the talk page. Erik (talk) 03:26, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I added some stuff from the article. We could go with either having an overall development section and then a summary of plot followed by a reception section or have development and reception in each of the character sections? Best, --A NobodyMy talk 18:31, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Appreciate your addition! Regarding reception, there needs to be a distinction between what is covered at the main film article and this sub-article. I am not sure if reception-related information would belong in the sub-article; the film has been largely commended because of its visual effects and depth of detail and is best covered in the main article's own "Critical reception" section. (We could link to relevant subsections from there, like if someone says something about Pandora's landscape, we could link to #Pandora here -- once we create it.) By the way, I came across The Art of Avatar and the Cinefex article at the book store today (I tend to go a lot) -- these would definitely be useful resources for detailing both Pandoran elements and human technology. What do you think about renaming the sub-article to adjust the scope? I had "Design in Avatar" in mind but am trying to think of something that better summarizes the creativity and the depth of the world Cameron put together. Erik (talk) 20:48, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Happy to help! On a side note, the lack of maturity in the discussion is a bit disappointing to see. Nothing like trying to have an academic discussion with people who are here to masturbate rather than actually improve articles! Anyway, a rename is possible, but you might want to make that suggestion at the bottom of the Afd to see what others think. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 22:13, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
I made my comment and responded to a couple of others' concerns, especially Ryan's. I doubt the delete !votes matter at this point; the closing admin will likely not delete it per improvements and maybe point to the talk page for merging if necessary. We'll have to talk about how to sort out all the different details once the fervor is behind us. Erik (talk) 23:29, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
You are probably right. Most of the delete votes are WP:IDONTLIKEIT votes rather than arguments. [1], [2], [3], etc. are impossible to take seriously. I do not know why anyone would bother with such nonsense comments. They do not convince anyone of anything. Compare something like "delete CRuFT!" with say your initial comment that at least cites a guideline rather than some made up term and offers some suggestions for alternative ideas. Moreover, you kept an open-mind, worked on the article, and amended your position, which is exactly what we need in order to have a civil and productive discussion. Sadly, our efforts to have mature discussions get marred by those who think they have a "mission to delete all forms of cruftery" and so will never argue to keep. How can we possible go anywhere if some want everything deleted regardless of and even after improvement? Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 00:20, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

← Have a Happy New Year! We'll work out these details in 2010. :) Erik (talk) 17:10, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

The Military history WikiProject Newsletter : XLVI (December 2009)

The Military history WikiProject Newsletter Issue XLVI (December 2009)
From the coordinators
Happy New Year to all! I shall take this opportunity to reflect upon the past year. In 2009 our project grew impressively, adding nearly 100 new featured articles and doubling the total number of featured lists. Overall the total number of articles within our scope surpassed 95,000 in 2009, and if these numbers hold steady we will surpass 100,000 articles in 2010. Thank you all for your outstanding efforts.

We are currently working on several proposals to improve the project for 2010. These include bringing the Milhist Academy up to full operational status, as well as spicing up and streamlining the task force structure. Also, any help you can offer to clear the current backlog of Military History good article nominations would be appreciated.

For the Coordinators, TomStar81 (Talk) 11:10, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Alma White

The article you added a section to was worded improperly and the quotes material doesn't look quite right. Can you go back and revise it. It seems you are quoting from the book by Neal, but the quote is talking about the book ain the third person, as if it was a review of the Neal book. The reference you used was the Neal book itself. Were you quoting a blurb review of the book from the jacket? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 19:41, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

PlayStation 2 Resident_Evil 4 covers.jpg

There has been some back and forth reverting on the Resident Evil 4 article. You add the image, and User:StarScream1007 removes it. I don't feel particularly strong about the issue, although I do feel the image has been rendered somewhat redundant by other images in the article. The issue of fair use might require some discussion, as you well know Wikipedia is strict about that. I suggest you engage in discussion before once more adding the image, as this is unlikely to be settled by reverts. Regards, --Atlan (talk) 16:39, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
