Pruzhany Palace - Incorrect deletion of external links!

Good day! I write through Google-translate: You deleted the pages of the museum's treasures in social networks - we think this is not correct, which distorts the principles of Wikipedia and undermines the credibility of its creators. Museum-non-profit organization - it's not business or winding likes, and not at all SPAM! We use the possibilities of http://qrpedia.org/, therefore, on the wiki pages there should be comprehensive information about the institution! If you want to help our organization - then you can supplement the page about the estate with information with the wiki https://be-tarask.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9F%D1%80%D1%83%D0%B6%D0%B0%D0%BD%D1%81%D0%BA%D1%96_%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%86%D1%8B%D0%BA Thank you!

I disagree. The links removed were spamming other websites plus the Facebook page which is not a reliable source. -- Alexf(talk) 16:48, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

But, these are official pages of the institution, so this is a reliable source! In addition, I repeat, we use http://qrpedia.org/ - this is a wiki project! You need to return them back! Thank you!

Official does not mean reliable. Twitter and Facebook are also opinion and not verifiable. Should you disagree, this is not the place. Please discuss this at the article's Talk Page or at ANI if you are so inclined. -- ~~

ANI Experiences survey

The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (led by the Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) is conducting a survey for en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be mailed to you via Special:Emailuser.

A fix is needed

Hello Alex. The protection that you have applied to your archive 55 has caused it to show up in Category:Wikipedia pages with incorrect protection templates. It might be something as simple as applying a null edit or perhaps a change of template. When you have a moment if you can check on things it will be appreciated. I hope you have a pleasant weekend. MarnetteD|Talk 19:31, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

oops! I unprotected and am trying to figure out why. Page should not be in the list. Thanks for the heads up. -- Alexf(talk) 19:44, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
No worries A. It is gone now so things are copacetic. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 21:17, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Alexf. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

moving a page

Hi,can you please help in moving Princess Ghida al-Talal to Princess Ghida Talal. There seem to be a redirect page there. The original name haven't an "al" in it. And I can't make the move over the existing redirect. Thanks. --Tarawneh (talk) 12:47, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

how was my edit on argentines vandalism?

You claim my edit on argentines was vandalism, but you have not explained how. I have made very clear that new Zealand and the united kingdom where melting pot countries, and I took it to the talk page and said so. it says Argentina has received more immigrants than Canada, Brazil, and Australia, and I assume that Argentina has also received more immigrants than New Zealand and the United kingdom, that is why I added it there. I even took it to the talk page. can you please explain how is this vandalism? please respond when you get the chance.

You keep making the same format edit and it keeps being reverted. Please stop that. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages by adding four tildes at the end. -- Alexf(talk) 12:19, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

User talk:LindsayBullock

User talk:LindsayBullock is indicating they will no longer edit articles they have a conflict of interest with. Any objections to unblocking, per WP:ROPE? --Jayron32 16:32, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

@Jayron32: Ok. Go ahead. -- Alexf(talk) 16:35, 11 December 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure if there is a right way to do anything on wikipdia, but here goes... I am looking for a second opinion on the Know Your Meme article addressing the WP:EL thing. I think a link to their youtube channel is needed due to the official websites link to episodes autoloading all episodes when surfing on to the page. This I feel qualifies it as a WP:ELMAYBE situation. I'm asking for you to check out the Official Website and their episode section, then consider if it falls under WP:ELMAYBE or not. Thanks for considering. Devilmanozzy (talk) 20:52, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi again Alexf, hope you're doing well. I know we've addressed this issue on your talk page recently, but you must have archived that discussion page. I happened to check back at this article, and the vandalism really does seem out of control. I don't mind going through whatever other page you mentioned to file a request for page protection, but I really wish you could just save me some valuable time and protect this page. With all due respect, I believe it deserves that indefinite protection. Best, Castncoot (talk) 04:17, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

Looked again (I have the page watchlisted so I will keep an eye on this). I still do not see the levels of persistent vandalism that would require protection. Of course you may differ and request it at RFPP and have other admins take a look. -- Alexf(talk) 12:31, 19 December 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of my article on Astrid Gutsche

I wrote an article Draft:Astrid_Gutsche after finding out a few things:

  • There is no existing article.
  • She's a prominent business owner and head pastry chef.
  • Her husband, also a chef, has a Wikipedia Article Gastón Acurio
  • When you type into Google her name, Astrid Gutsche, there are autosuggestions for "astrid gutsche wiki" and "astrid gutsche biografia" among the top results, showing the demand for her page and info about her.

I cited sources when I drafted my page and was careful reading through it (spent a few hours on just a few sentences of content) so I'd like to know how to make a better contribution to Wikipedia so that this is accepted. Also, if I could recover the earlier work, I'm happy to spend some more time editing it to make it better for Wikipedia. Just don't want to start from scratch.

Omar (talk) 22:58, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia doesn't go by "prominent", but instead by "notable". You can read the link to understand what is required. That her husband has an article does not mean anything as notability is not inherited. The draft was set for deletion, and a note posted to your user page. All procedures were done correctly, and in due course it was deleted. If, after reading all the material about notability for people, and you have verifiable reliable sources, you still want to go ahead, please request and the draft can be returned to you. Just make sure you read and understand these concepts beforehand. If you have questions about any of this, please ask at the Tea House. -- Alexf(talk) 23:23, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

IP discussion

Hello! I was wondering if you could look at a nice, civil discussion I am having with an IP user. It does not have to do with vandalism, I believe all their edits are in good faith, but I want to make sure I am explaining promotional editing correctly as we seem to be misunderstanding each other. I do not want to misguide them accidentally. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:45, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

@HickoryOughtShirt?4:. Seems ok even though a little too verbose. Pointing to the guy's website and his/her writings is simply not allowed. It does indicate a conflict of interest at the very least if not spamming the website. I would point the user to the proper pages, and maybe direct them to the Tea House as a place to ask questions and learn what we do here. Whenever you need guidance or opinion, it is better to go to places like the Tea House or if you need admin assistance to ANI, arther than an individual who may be offline for a while.-- Alexf(talk) 11:38, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello and thank you for the reply! I was trying to look for active admins and I just missed you, whoops! I didn't think of the Tea House but I'll definitely send them there next time. Thank you! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:11, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Just an FYI, but this user which you blocked for a username violation has been renamed. Nihlus 12:25, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

Thank. That is exactly what the note I left him told him to do. -- Alexf(talk) 12:31, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

You missed one.

I noticed that you removed the nonfunctional redirects to Antiparticle on up antiquark, strange antiquark, charm antiquark, bottom antiquark, and top antiquark, but you left the secondary redirect in place for down antiquark. I don't want to remove it in case you left it there for a reason (as it would seem natural to at least look at an antiquark redirect's page if you noticed problems with the other five), but I'm not sure. Care to differ or discuss with me? The Nth User 02:13, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Just an omission. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 02:19, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Artist cannot be published

Hey there,

I have been trying to publish a page here for many years and after finally having time to edit my personal page the way it should be, I was asked to "stop my disruptive editing." I have numerous links to various activities and notable/reputable bands I have either worked with or am currently working with. I am unclear as to why edits to a page about myself created by myself are being labeled as "disruptive," but I can assure you that I mean no disruptive behavior or actions. The page is for educational purposes only and for both current and potential businesses whom wish to research me. I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide on the matter so that whatever misunderstanding or thought misrepresentations may be made true and clear. Thanks.

Bigvinkarma (talk) 00:47, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Vinnie E. Parma

Writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged. Writing about yourself is a serious conflict of interest. Besides this, there are the issues of notability. In short, too many issues that make this not feasible, and against the rules. If you want an article created and you are notable, go to Articles for Creation and an experienced user will help you. If you have any questions about how Wikipedia works, please ask at the Tea House. -- Alexf(talk) 01:23, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

Balenciaga Edit

I was wondering why you removed an edit I made to the Balenciaga page. Specifically the line "Notable people who have worn Balenciaga clothing in public include G.E.M" from the section "In popular culture."

Other fashion pages have similar lines that haven't been removed, like "Notable people who have worn Supreme clothing in public include members of the group Odd Future, Odell Beckham Jr, Justin Bieber, BTS’s Suga, and EXO's Baekhyun" from the Supreme page section "In popular culture."

Another thing I would like to clarify is that I signed up originally with the AsianStarsID username but was told that it was a promotional username so I made another account with the current username Kelvin838 because the other username didn't have any contributions.

Kelvin838 (talk) 18:34, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

It is simple. The list of customers of a brand is irrelevant. I am sure many famous people buy Porsche or Rolex. Should we list them in those articles? You mention other articles have similar mentions and have not been removed. Just because other ones exist does not make any argument any more valid. If you know of other violations, help the Project removing them if they do not contribute to the article. As per your edits, yes, your edits were promotional under a promotional name. You created a new account and went ahead to do the same promotion. That is unacceptable and it will lead to a block of your account. If you want to learn how all of this works, or have any questions about Wikipedia, please ask at the Tea House. -- Alexf(talk) 18:49, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Flags on the list of headphone manufacturers site

I'd like to think that having the flags on the List_of_headphone_manufacturers article is useful and practical, and gives an overview of the globality of headphone manufacture. I read the section of MOSFLAG that was attached, but the flags in the list were not in conflict with them. Jesajash (talk) 12:05, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

I disagree. It also makes it look garish, and nto consistent with the rest of lists. If you want to pursue this further you could ask in the article's Talk page to get consensus. -- Alexf(talk) 12:16, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

Birthdate

Please stop changing my birthdate. I’m not sure why you keep doing so but it is incorrect. I would appreciate it if you left it alone. Angela Calpin (talk) 16:32, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

We have a BLP issue. In order to change a birthday you need to provide reliable sources. When you say "my" birthday, are you saying you are Jessica Barth? If that is so, then a) you have to prove it, and b) you would have an undeclared conflict of interest. Looking at your talk page I see you have already been made aware of this issue, and have not responded. In fact you have ignoring the notices. If you continue without response, your account will be blocked from editing to protect the Project. Be pro-active and respond in your user talk page. -- Alexf(talk) 17:03, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Revocation of talk page

IMHO this was an inappropriate removal of talk page access of a blocked user. The user was not using their talk page disruptively. All they were doing from what I can see is removing the block notice, which they are perfectly allowed to do. Thank you. 2600:387:5:80D:0:0:0:91 (talk) 12:58, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

They are not allowed to remove the wohis tag that informs people who the ISP is. They are allowed to remove notices other than maintenance notices like that one. -- Alexf(talk) 19:43, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
If that’s the case, why did you revert them here when they blanked the page except for the WHOIS notice. Also @EricEnfermero: this rollback was inappropriate since the user is allowed to remove warnings from their talk page. 2600:387:5:803:0:0:0:72 (talk) 11:43, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello

Hello Alexf, I saw that you have reverted my editing. Is it because editing too many Chinese words is not allowed? [1] --No1lovesu (talk) 11:48, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Do you have a source in English for the en.WP? It might be acceptable but does not explain much here. -- Alexf(talk) 12:04, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Did you mean to block the above for 1 day, 12 hours, and not indefinitely? It appears to to be a vandalism-only account, considering the edits and edit filter log entries. –72 (talk) 13:16, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

@72: Actually I did, because I did not see enough warnings. Revisiting and reading every edit from the account, I re-blocked indef. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 13:23, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm questioning why you made this reversion - the edited content seems to be correctly updating the information. LynxTufts (talk) 17:50, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi, about the vandalism

Hi, Alex, I edited the African disapora page, you told me is a vandalism. I do add all the Black and black-mixed population numbers of South America first, then I used the numbers of Black and black-mixed population divide by country population and times 100, thats why I got a percentage. Can you tell me why is a vandalism please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.178.118.50 (talk) 00:27, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
