Speedy deletion nomination of Parkview Library
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Parkview Library requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Xx236 (talk) 12:45, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on User:Derek J Moore/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Ways to improve Parkview Library
[edit]Hello, Derek J Moore,
Thank you for creating Parkview Library.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
There don't seem to be many references indepednent of the library that lend notability to this locally important topic. Most of the reference related to the context of reading in South Africa more broadly, which could be helpfully added elsewhere. I also wonder about the relevance of national literacy rates in Parkview, which seems to a be relatively affluent part of Johannesburg. Are there figures on local literacy being problematic?
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Klbrain}}

Thanks for the helpful feedback and additional guidance. They are much appreciated. Parkview is a highly affluent area. Wealth and literacy should not, however, be conflated. The library also serves several high-functioning state schools, with children drawn in from various socio-economc groups. Derek J Moore (talk) 12:31, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
Council on Higher Education moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Council on Higher Education. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it does not appear to be finished. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. —asparagusus (interaction) sprouts! 20:37, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited SADiLaR, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page OER. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Reusable assignment moved to draftspace
[edit]Hi, I've moved this article to draftspace because I believe it is a better candidate for the WP:AFC process given that two of the citations in question appear to be to yourself. This is not automatically against Wikipedia policy, but I would recommend reading WP:SELFPUB and WP:SELFCITE to understand Wikipedia guidance on doing this safely.
Ahead of the AfC review, I would also recommend trying to find more sources that use the WP:COMMONNAME for the phenomenon that you're describing, along with more sources that involve editorial review - blogs and student newspapers don't really contribute much towards WP:NOTABILITY. BrigadierG (talk) 21:33, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi BrigadierG. Okay. I’ll check the citations. Thanks for the advice. I recently have been granted access to the Wikipedia Library. I’m not sure if that is at your reccomendation. But I hope to up my citation quality now. Thanks Derek J Moore (talk) 04:26, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- Good luck! I certainly like the premise of the article, and as a college dropout who has been disillusioned with the process, I do wish educators would set more of these kinds of assignments. BrigadierG (talk) 10:34, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for creating Johannesburg Emergency Water Supply.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

Hello! I have seen that you created the article Kloof Street Public Library. I love libraries and am very happy to have more library articles on Wikipedia, but the article was written in an extremely bias and promotional tone. I have edited the article to make in more encyclopedic, but please be more careful in the future as promotion is not allowed on Wikipedia. -- NotCharizard 🗨 11:11, 28 July 2024 (UTC)

- Surprised that you have deleted an article in Sandbox. I was looking at the criteria for Wikinews https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion.
