Wikipedia policy allows us to link to legal streamed copies of albums. It would be useful to draw up a guideline on how and when to link to such albums; however, there is concern that it may not be appropriate as the music would not be available in all parts of the world. Is the benefit of having access to the music for most users outweighed by the fact that some users will follow a link to find the music is not playable in their region? Your view would be helpful at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums. SilkTork ✔Tea time 02:12, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Broadzilla tramp.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Broadzilla tramp.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 21:58, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Broadzilla tramp2.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Broadzilla tramp2.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Got your request!
Howdy. Sure, I'm entirely unfamiliar with the The Wildhearts, but will nose around and see what I can come up with. It's nice to be remembered! :) Looks like you have some serious photo issues looking here on your talk page. I really don't mind photo requests if there are others you want while I'm searching, or, if you wish, I can give you the basic info to finding and uploading photos to Commons. There's info on my user page, though I should warn you, people like me don't tend to receive credit or barnstars! Learning it is easy, or I wouldn't know how to do it, since I'm very computer illiterate other than my efforts here! I may need a week or two to figure out what might be out there, OK? Later! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 22:27, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for September 29
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dandelion (band), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page CKY (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Band Membership Timelines

I am planning to create a band membership timeline for Fishbone (most likely at List of Fishbone members) and will be using the commands like
id:guitar value:blue legend:Guitar
Due to this band's many members playing many instruments I am going to need 10 or 11 different colors. The most different colors I have ever seen in an existing band timeline is 8 at Tristania (band). I'll use those 8 for Fishbone but is there a list somewhere of all available colors to use for this purpose? Thanks. --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 17:44, 7 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi from Wil
Hi Doomsdayer520, I'm contacting high contribution editors like you whose total contributions have gone down over the past few years. I see you had a peak of high-activity around 2010, then it's gradually fallen off. Seems like you're mostly into editing music-related articles. There's always more to do there, of course. I'm in to music myself, but mostly making it. I'd really appreciate it if you could come by my talk page and tell me briefly why you aren't editing as much anymore: tell me about it. If you'd like to keep it more on the downlow, you can email me at wllm@wllm.com. Hope to see you over there sometime soon! ,Wil (talk) 04:52, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Re: Walsh
Thank you for your advice, but the page has failed the "good article" rating. Best wishes and kind regards Joe Vitale 5 (talk) 18:48, 14 June 2014 (UTC).
- It's been revised and resubmitted, but it's just sitting there in the list and no one seems to have gotten to it. Any thoughts? Pkeets (talk) 02:54, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
Hi there. You have repeatedly added unsourced material into this BLP article. Wikipedia's Policy of Verifiability stipulates:
"All quotations, and any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, must include an inline citation that directly supports the material. Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed. Please remove contentious material about living people that is unsourced or poorly sourced immediately".
Referring to another article for verifiability is thusly not permitted because of the inline citation requirement. I have undone your addition because it contains an unverified claim ("performs exclusively") that is not supported by any of the sources in the BLP article and in the article you are referring to in your edit summary. Please add reliable sources to your edits before re-adding the content back to the BLP article. Thank you. 93.135.19.127 (talk) 19:59, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- If you happen to read this, it is very poor Wikipedia etiquette to say something on an editor's Talk page without having a Talk page of your own on which to respond. For that to happen you should have a true user name on which to attach a true Talk page. Having a user ID gives you credibility as a serious WP editor, so you won't look like a beginner giving a lecture to the more experienced. It is also poor etiquette to assume that the person you're talking to is unfamiliar with policy, especially if that person has a long-standing ID and Talk page unlike yourself.
- As for the present controversy, I concede that a source is needed for the statement in question, but I disagree with your actions on two counts. The fact that Suzuka was previously a member of both Sakura Gakuin and Babymetal, and "graduated" from the first, means that she is now exclusive to Babymetal in the absence of any sources that say she is currently a member of any other act. This is all explained and sourced sufficiently at Babymetal and therefore one can assume that someone wanting verification can go to that article (though per policy I am incorrect on this particular detail). But regardless, a serious and community-minded Wikipedia editor would not remove a statement that is clearly a fact, as you have, but would call for a source on the page with a [citation needed] tag, or just add sources yourself because they can be easily copied from the Babymetal article.
- Read the policy you cited: "Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed"... "Please remove contentious material." The statement in question may be removed, but only must be removed if it is contentious. The issue of "contentious" relates to lies and misrepresentations that could lead to libel actions, which is the true reason behind the BLP policy, as longtime WP editors are aware. There is nothing contentious about the statement we're arguing about too much already. If you would like to discuss further, get yourself a real ID and Talk page. --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 18:35, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Global account
Hi Doomsdayer520! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:33, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Motorpsychos motorpsychos.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Motorpsychos motorpsychos.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.
You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 12:33, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
