A tag has been placed on The Bell Inn, Aldworth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Notice

The article Menachem has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superfluous article based upon an alternate (and less accurate) transliteration of the Hebrew name Menahem (disambiguation) מנחם; both are acceptable (and mostly interchangeable) transliterations of the exact same name and should all be listed in one place.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. StonyBrook (talk) 00:54, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

Just to be clear, I am proposing that Menachem be eventually redirected to Menahem (disambiguation) after the entire list is moved there. StonyBrook (talk) 01:02, 13 February 2020 (UTC) there).

New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020

Hello Edwardx,

Source Guide Discussion

The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.

Redirects

New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.

Discussions and Resources
Refresher

Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

Thanks for identifying the potential need for RD1. However, while these requests can be relatively straightforward when the source material URL is identified, as well as the revision ID of the first revision with the problematic material. Without those two pieces of information, it is sometimes possible to figure out what is meant but it takes some sleuthing, and there are typically a dozen or so reports each day so it is much easier if you identify the relevant edits and source material.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:20, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

Joseph David Jones page

I understand when you removed the things because we can't use IMDb and Facebook as sources. That's why I went out of my way to find articles and interviews as sources for the information. Now you're telling me the sources look the same? I don't get that. The actor hired me to edit his page for him with this specific information. Right now, you're getting in the way of this. So please tell me, how come I can't use the new sources? They should be acceptable.ApplePear97 (talk) 16:57, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

@ApplePear97: How much are you being paid for this work? Philafrenzy (talk) 19:00, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
@Philafrenzy: I'm getting $20 for it. That's how much I told him I would charge for. ApplePear97 (talk) 19:28, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
@ApplePear97: Thank you. Which other articles have you been paid to work on? Do you have other accounts, or is this your only one? Philafrenzy (talk) 19:56, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
@Philafrenzy: I'm only getting paid to edit Joseph David-Jones page. This is my first and possibly last time getting paid to edit an article on here. Also, this is my only account.ApplePear97 (talk) 20:20, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
ApplePear97 Have had to remove Joseph David-Jones's full DOB again. The cited article at www.monstersandcritics.com no longer exists, and I have my doubts whether his full DOB was ever in the article anyway. Perhaps you should think about refunding that $20. Edwardx (talk) 23:20, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
@Edwardx: The monstersandcritics was not my source. That belonged to somebody a long time ago. About his DOB, I think he'll be fine with just the year as it was wrong the first time. He was born in 1993 not 1989. If he wants the full date, is twitter a reliable source? I ask this, because I do remember him making a post back in December mentioning it was his birthday on that said day.
ApplePear97 Regardless of who added the monstersandcritics source, you used it as the citation when adding his full DOB. That is a big no no, and that sort of thing can get you blocked from editing. Twitter is unsuitable, see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. Edwardx (talk) 01:00, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
ApplePear97 You can change the year of birth if you want, but don't add the full DOB without a reliable source. Edwardx (talk) 01:04, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
@Edwardx: The year of birth is correct. Right now he's trying to find an article that has him mention his DOB to use as a source.ApplePear97 (talk) 15:25, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
ApplePear97 Another option is to find a reliable source that mentions his age, then we can use the {{birth based on age as of date |yy|yyyy|mm|dd}} template. Our readers only really need to know roughly how old someone is. A precise date of birth is not essential. Edwardx (talk) 10:15, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
@Edwardx:Okay, so he sent me this today. https://www.tvovermind.com/joseph-david-jones/ It has his full date of birth on there. Would this be a credible source to use, because I feel like it wouldn't?ApplePear97 (talk) 03:05, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
ApplePear97 There are so many sites out there with film, TV and celebrity news that it can be hard to determine how reliable they are. Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources is your first stop. Then we do a search in the archives of Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard, where we get one result, Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_149#TVOvermind. As you can see the original poster (OP) raises a doubt, but this is never specifically addressed, as definitive news was expected to be announced two days later. If we look at the homepage of TVOvermind, in the top right hand corner there is a big link to Write For Us!. I think we can conclude from those three paragraphs that TVOvermind would not be a reliable source for a Wikipedia article. By way of comparison, look at the entry for "Forbes.com contributors" on Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. Edwardx (talk) 13:24, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
It is generally best to discuss these sort of issues on the article talkpage, rather than the talkpage of another editor, so I am copying this section in its entirety to Talk:Joseph David-Jones, and suggest that any further discussion should continue there. My apologies for not doing this sooner, but one never knows in advance how long such discussions are going to continue! Edwardx (talk) 13:30, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
Scraped lists of "10 things you never knew" etc are rarely reliable sources. Philafrenzy (talk) 13:33, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Muilenburg

This is literally a quote from the press release by Boeing: "The Company also announced that Dennis A. Muilenburg has resigned from his positions as Chief Executive Officer and Board director effective immediately." I see the NY Times headline stating he was fired, but I'd say the information coming straight from Boeing itself should be accurate. It even says later in the article "On December 23, 2019, Boeing announced that Muilenburg resigned as the CEO and Board director, in the aftermath of the two crashes of 737 MAX aircraft." Yes, I agree the board is what caused his resignation, but he was not fired in the literal sense of the term. Maybe it could be mentioned that he resigned under pressure by the board or something like that? Apoorv Chauhan (talk) 18:22, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

It would be better if you raised this at Talk:Dennis Muilenburg. I will copy your post and respond there. Edwardx (talk) 18:42, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Chief Mike Adenuga's title

Hello, Edwardx...

I noticed that you removed my addition of the chiefly honorific to Chief Adenuga's page. When I checked if there was an edit summary, I saw that you did so because you were under the impression that the pre-nominal was added without an appropriate citation being provided. This is erroneous.

In the citation that I put at the end of the post-nominal, Chief Adenuga is clearly referred to as "Chief Mike Adenuga". There is infact no reference to the GCON post-nominal in that article... I put it there expressly because of the chiefly pre-nominal. I would have put the citation immediately after the pre-nominal itself, but I thought that it would look cluttered. If you insist upon it, however, then I will gladly do so.

What we have now is a situation where a citation on the page is there to support something that no longer exists. I will give you twenty-four hours to verify my assertions. If there are no further objections, I will restore the honorific.

Here's hoping that you are well.

Your recent reverts

Why are you systemically reverting edits by Dutchy85? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 10:55, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

NinjaRobotPirate Please accept my apologies for that, but it did look like WP:REFSPAM type activity. On closer inspection, I appear to have over-reacted, and have left an explanation on their talkpage. Edwardx (talk) 11:05, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

Reliable sources for family claims, please

Hi, I see you've been reverting a lot of edits to remove material that lacked referencing. But you've reverted my removal of claims of marriage, divorce, and number of children that cites no reliable source. If a family member has a WP article, fine; or there's a footnote containing a reliable reference, also fine. diff. Otherwise, no go. The other problem is that marriages, divorces, and numbers of children tend to be a moving feast; so why announce them so prominently in an infobox when they could well become outdated behind our back. And is the number of children really so important to the topic that a mention in the body of the text isn't suffficient? Tony (talk) 04:53, 28 March 2020 (UTC)

Tony1. The first marriage and children was cited in the Telegraph. I have added a source for the second marriage, and restored that content to the infobox. I vaguely recall that there was a source before for the second marriage, but it was removed - perhaps the Mail. Lots of things in infoboxes can change - that is not a good enough argument for not including such content. Incidentally, he is in his 60s, so unlikely to have more children. DYK for Cheung Chung-kiu

On 8 April 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Cheung Chung-kiu, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Cheung Chung-kiu has agreed to buy 2–8a Rutland Gate (pictured) in London for more than £200 million, making it easily the most expensive house sold in the UK? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Cheung Chung-kiu. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Cheung Chung-kiu), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Joe Nahmad

Hi,

Thanks for your editing on Joe Nahmad article. But why did you

  • rename the article as a draft ?
  • talk about copyright violation?

Polaert (talk) 15:40, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Polaert It was moved into draft space, as I do not believe Joe Nahmad (New York) is ready for mainspace. You undid this move 24 minutes later, without any discussion. As for copyright issues, phrases such as "dynamic aquarium ecosystems" are identical to the source. I note that you do not respond to my concern about it being promotional. For example, "curated shows that historicize contemporary artists", and "Joe Nahmad reinterpreted Les Fleurs du Mal the subversive volume of the 19th century French poet Charles Baudelaire, with a transgenerational group exhibition". Do you have any declaration to make in accordance with our policies such as Wikipedia:Conflict of interest? Edwardx (talk) 20:06, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer. Firstly, as a benevolent contributor on wikipedia since 2005 (French speaking wikipedia), my main focus are Africa and contemporary art. Sorry if I undid your editing after a few minutes but I worked on this article, and you acted without any preliminary discussion. Of course, your editing for improving this article are more than welcome. About "dynamic aquarium ecosystems", this quote is borrowed from this press article : https://www.widewalls.ch/daniel-buren-pierre-huyghe-nahmad-contemporary/ . About the sentence you qualified promotional, I wrote it. To be honest, I don't see where this sentence is promotional. But up to you to reformulate it. And please talk to people before tackling their contribution ;). Best Polaert (talk) 07:58, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Nabiyah Be

Hello, Edwardx. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Nabiyah Be".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

She's not mentioned on that page, so why redirect to it? Seems a bit odd. Moriori (talk) 23:27, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
If you look at the page history for Suburbicon, she was included in the (longer) cast list in 2017, when the redirect was created. Edwardx (talk) 09:43, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
