Orphaned non-free media (File:Welcome to Dead House.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Welcome to Dead House.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 03:30, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This editor won the Quarter Million Award for bringing Goosebumps to Good Article status.

If I've made any error in this listing, please don't hesitate to correct it; if for any reason you don't feel you deserve it, please don't hesitate to remove it; if you know of any other editor who merits one of these awards, please don't hesitate to give it; if you yourself deserve another award from any of the three tiers, please don't hesitate to take it! Cheers, -- Khazar2 (talk) 20:05, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fearstreetsaga, thanks for your thanks re my edits at Wilfrid S. Bronson. As a wikicat with definite wikikitten tendencies, I have been concentrating on stubby child lit articles, mainly reassessing and adding tags, but like the kitten in the picture, regularly coming up for air and doing afds and other stuff that catches my eye.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Project Tagging - Your help is needed

Thanks to Earwig and his bot some articles had our project banner placed on their pages - this will let us monitor and support these articles better. However, the tagging received some complaints about too many incorrectly place tags (see here). Some help in going through the categories to be used by the bot would be appreciated. That list of categories can be found at: User:The Earwig/Sandbox/Children's Lit

A great way to stay on top of articles which need particular attention is through the project's article alerts page. You can find out about new Good Article Nominees, Articles for Deletion, and more. If you watch the page you can even see the new additions each night right frmo your watchlist.

Article Assessment

With the completion of our project banner project, we have a large backlog of unassessed articles. Doing article rating is a great way to find interesting articles with-in our project's scope and to also find articles that were incorrectly tagged. This project will hopefully let us better monitor and aid in the development the many articles that this project supports. Thanks to Legoktm for all his work in making this happen.

MrLinkinPark333 recently pointed out that on some of our Top importance pages about Children's literature awards there are many redlinks. The three pages with these redlinks are Caldecott Medal, Newbery Medal, and Carnegie Medal (with 0 existing redlinks in the other top importance award article - Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award). As of this newsletter there are 222 redlinks in those three articles. How many can we as a project create over the next 6 weeks? Could we even do better and see if we could create any that earn a Did You Know or even get it up to Good Article status?

As always feel free to head on over to the project discussion page if you find yourself in need of any help as we work to turn these notable entries on some of our most important articles blue.

@Rosguill: I appreciate you reaching out to me. I can confirm that I have no connection with the film or the book series itself. I came up with this account name when I was a lot younger and simply have not bothered changing the name yet.
As an aside, I'm not sure the tag belongs on the article to begin with. Template:COI/doc states that the template should only be used where there are concerns the article itself is non-neutral. Unless such concerns are brought up, I don't really see the point of bringing this up on the article's talk page. Fearstreetsaga (talk) 01:16, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bestseller lists

[edit]

Heya. We both contributed sources and helped expand Labyrinth of Evil when it was nominated for AFD. Among your contributions were its placement on New York Times Best Sellers lists, including when and how long it was on the lists. Is there a specific place to look up that information, beyond just searching the NYT website? I ask because I'm planning some expansions to a Wikipedia article about a book (specifically American Lion) and I know it was on the NYT Bestsellers list for some time, but am having trouble finding exact details such as how long it was on the list and where it peaked. Please let me know if you can help me. Thanks! — Hunter Kahn 12:20, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Hunter Kahn. I often use Google to search http://hawes.com and find books on the NYT best seller list (then use the NYT website to link to a reliable source on the actual article itself). I find that Hawes is organized a lot nicer than some of the archived versions of the list on the actual website. They also sort the best seller lists by date: http://hawes.com/pastlist.htm. It looks like American Lion had a peak ranking of 2 when it debuted in November 2008 and was on the bestseller list for 15 weeks.[1][2] I hope that helps. ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:27, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
