Cortex Command

Hey, just wanted to pass on a quick thanks for an AfD you participated in for Cortex Command back in July. The game and its community is important to me and some other folks and we found out you played a fairly large part in keeping the game's presence on WP and I just wanted to pass that thanks from the entire community that supports the game...

Thanks for the comments. I try to keep an eye on the Videogame deletions list and add comments where I can. Sometimes it means that I add a reason to keep, particularly in cases where we've got some good quality sources. Once the AfD was complete, it was just a case of adding those sources to the article and generally cleaning it up. Glad you like the result! Gazi moff 10:31, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Michael Richards

I have read numerous absurd comments about this man and was simply trying to see how easy it is to edit information. Last night I read something quite offensive that was up for a great deal of time. Today I experimented to see if it would get corrected, which it did indeed, however was truly offended by what I read previously. I personally would feel much better about these recent events if this page were to be locked for hopefully at least the rest of the night so these comments pointing out a man's multiple character flaws and mistakes will stop being posted. I think this is the only effective solution because if this page gets locked even temporarily, I feel a valuable point will be proven and this will need not continue. In this case, the level of vandalism is fairly low and would probably not support page protection. Vandalism is usually caught and reverted, with persistent vandals blocked from editing. There are also a fair number of anonymous editors performing meaningful work on the article and page protection would make them unable to edit it either. Your revert to WSpeedMeter for Windows Mobile

Hey, usually when the original author of an article blanks the page, it's considered grounds for deletion per G7. I'm guessing this was just another one of Huggle's bugs? ——Possum (talk) 22:59, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Canvassing

This message is being sent to the three editors that have opposed for this reason. I would like to apologize for doing anything that was perceived as canvassing. Once Gazinoff called me on it, I thought about the situation, and immediately refactored my comment. I am not vandalising the Manjit Minhas page as I am Manjit Minhas and updating it correctly. Also, my brother and I won Moutnain Crest Brewing Co and there is alot of false information on it I am correcting it. First up, thanks for taking the time to contact me - I do appreciate it. Firstly, these two edits [1] [2] appear to be the insertion of biographical information into articles. On Wikipedia we're very concerned about biographies of living persons and ask that any information contained in them can be verified by cited reliable sources. The material that you were inserting appeared to be promotional and did not contain references, which is why it was removed - we simply had no way of validating it. If unsuitable content appears in a biography of a living person, it is probably best to report it on the BLP noticeboard

I'd also urge you to consider the conflict of interest you have with these articles, and I'd strongly discourage you from editing them. Instead, I'd suggest making reccomendations on the article's discussion page, suggesting sources where appropriate. That way, uninvolved editors can make valid assessments and rectify or rebalance any issues in the article impartially.

Meetup et al.

Hey, thanks for your comments on the talkpage :). I think we should at some point set up a page specifically for the pre- and post-mortems, but it's all good for now. No problems with the responses. Process and change is something I work with on a daily basis - nowadays I design process and change that can affect very large numbers of people, and have to confront people in order to manage how that change is proposed, worked through and eventually accepted. It means making sure you do your research beforehand (RfA Review) and make sure that the responses to that research back up what you're proposing. It's also worth noting that opposition to change is only natural - people become comfortable with a process and become resistant to change because it brings uncertainty with it. There's a great book that's really quick to read through called Who Moved My Cheese? that talks about our emotional responses to change and how we can look at it either negatively or positively.

As for the London meetup, unfortunately I have other arrangements. It may be something I contemplate at some stage, although I am fairly busy with a number of items at the moment. We'll see though :) Gazi moff 13:00, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

why did you undo update

Hi Gazimoff, I don't understand why you just undid my update of the Times data? As it is very obvious, I just replaced the 2007 with the new 2008 results???

Basically it didn't quote any sources to reference the updated figures and transposed 2 digits (from "42nd" to "24nd"). As the edit didn't have an edit summary either, there was no way of demonstrating that the change was valid or accurate, which is why I undidn it. Hope that makes sense. RfA Review

Gaz, I'm going to be gone for a while with some family issues - maybe a few weeks. Could you shake the bush at WT:RFA and WT:RREV and see if we can get an analysis going for the Recommendations? My plan was to do it the same way as with the Questions, where the comments would be tallied and evaluated simultaneously, and then recommendations that seemed to have broad support could be codified and moved forward. Social interaction in MMORPGs

I see that you offered to help the creator of this article to clean it up. People are claiming it's a copyvio but I cant actually see where from. But there are lots of sources in the article and elsewhere. All help to clean it up would be much appreciated.:) P.S. It is up at AfD, feel free to give your opinion one way or another.
