Deletion of Crest placeholder on St Hugh's College webpage
Hi,
My name is Simon Wedge, I am the webmaster for St Hugh's College, I have recently signed up to Wikipedia (under the username Shugit) in the hopes of uploading a new SVG crest image which is currently missing from the College page.
I have previously edited the webpage under the IP address 129.67.36.36.
My account is not yet verified so I cannot upload the image at the moment. Can either you upload the SVG image, which can be found here- St Hugh's SVG Crest File [1] or can you verify my account so I can do it myself.

Michael Jackson Page vandalism
Hello Hut 8.5, How are you doing?you got a cool name by the way. This editor by the name of Pyrrhus16 keeps changing the lead paragraphs of the Michael Jackson page. This age has been structured one way for the longest time. I also believe that he is sock sock puppetry by writing from an ip address besides using his wiki name. Other editors have spoken to him about yet he still does this. Malamanteaux
There is no mention of "malamanteaux" in the original comic, nor in any of the reliable sources that reference that comic. There is simply no reason for this redirect to exist. Please do not recreate it. Grue 18:14, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- It was probably added midway through the discussion by some anon and nobody noticed it. Because there's no way it should be a redirect. - Redirects have to make sense. This one doesn't. No one would actually search for "malamanteaux" on Wikipedia, because this supposed plural version of the word wasn't mentioned by xkcd. If anything, it should redirect to MetaFilter, because that's where it was used first (way before xkcd). IFES Ireland article deletion!
Hey I was about to create a new page for IFES Ireland, when I noticed that you had deleted the page, because it was an insignificant organisation. I believe that you made a mistake. IFES Ireland are an Christian charitable group, similar to UCCF in the UK, and is a part of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students internationally. They are also in operation on 26 different university / Information Technology campuses in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Craig Beardsley
I understand the copyright concerns that led to the mass page-blanking, but I really think that you would be hard-pressed to demonstrate that the Craig Beardsley article was derived, without citation, to the brief Swim Across America biography. I did a cursory clean-up of the article several months ago when I added a half-dozen cited sources including the SAA bio, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, the Florida Gators Swimming & Diving Media Guide and a recently released book on the 1980 Olympics and related press release. There is no uncited material in the article which could not have been from any one of dozens of other sources and there was certainly no uncited material included verbatim. If needed, I am happy to include a footnote for every sentence in the Beardsley article. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:03, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. I'm not Hut, but I'm watching his page as a result of this cleanup effort. Our copyright policy is unconcerned with citation. Unless content is explicitly marked as a quotation, in accordance with non-free content guidelines, it must be rewritten from scratch. Rather than footnoting, the best approach is really just to make sure that no text placed by Darius remains intact. Even if his copying is minimal in one article, there is substantial risk that he has taken snatches of the same source and spread them around Wikipedia, quite enough to be substantial, given that he has edited over 23,000 articles. :/ --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:34, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

As an attorney, I really DO understand the potential problems that Darius has created (shame he didn't), and it's unfortunate that this blunt instrument of page-blanking became necessary. One of Darius' interests appears to have been Olympic swimmers, and my only involvement in this mess is trying to preserve the substance of 50 or so Florida Gators swimmer biographies (only about a third were cited as potential violations). I have at least cursorily rewritten and footnoted most of these articles, not least of which was because their cut-and-paste nature was obvious in many instances. There should be few if any issues with the Craig Beardsley article, but I am happy to address any issues you or Hut may have in order to preserve the substance of these bios. I was prioritizing other Gators-related articles, but I am happy to swing back to the Gators swimmers if it will make your post-Darius clean-up tasks less complicated. When content is at all creative, we are also operating presumptively with it, in accordance with our Wikipedia:Copyright violations policy, since often it is difficult to trace where content came from this long after the fact. If you encounter any articles that are blanked in areas of interest to you, it would be fabulous if you could make sure that "his" creative content has been replaced. Voobly
I am trying to create a page for Voobly but have found that you deleted it previously so I can't create one now. Upon further investigation I found that voobly.com has been blacklisted by wikipedia because someone decided to spam voobly links on wikipedia. Is there a way you can remove us from the blacklist? We didn't do this and it seems unfair to punish us for it. - If you want to request that the site be removed from the blacklist then the place to do it is MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist or m:Talk:Spam blacklist (depending on which of the two blacklists is being used to block it). You will probably need to be able to demonstrate that there is a legitimate reason why someone would want to use the link in Wikipedia, and I doubt there's any reason to link to a gaming community.
- The title wasn't protected because I deleted the page, it was protected because spam articles were repeatedly recreated at the title. If you want to write a new article on the topic I suggest you create a userspace draft to demonstrate that the topic is appropriate for inclusion in Wikipedia. You will have to find references to document the article's claims and demonstrate that Voobly satisfies the notability guidelines.

Chickenhawk / Joe Lieberman revert
I noticed that you reverted my addition of Joe Lieberman to the Chickenhawk page requesting documentation/citation. The Lieberman wiki page discusses his military career as follows:
A spokesperson told The Hartford Courant in 1994 that Lieberman received an educational deferment from the Vietnam War draft when he was an undergraduate and law student from 1960 to 1967. Upon graduating from law school at age 25, Lieberman qualified for a family deferment because he was already married and had one child, Matt.[11] ' The link for citation 11 is broken on the Lieberman page but the statement of an educational and family deferement is unchallenged. I easily found other sources for this such as the following:

- From your comment on my Talk page: The source in the Lieberman article (which you can read here) does claim that he didn't serve in Vietnam despite being of appropriate age but it doesn't allege that he actively avoided military service, so it can't be used to support an allegation of this nature. FWIW, the definition in the article is: The use of the term chickenhawk to describe a "hawk" who has never been in combat... The definition does not require proof that someone "actively avoided military service" but merely that they are a "hawk" who has never been in combat. Joe Lieberman is clearly a "Hawk" who has never been in combat.

- Of course, Joe Lieberman didn't have to fight in Vietnam -- like his new ally Dick Cheney he had "other priorities" in the 1960s. He received two deferments, one to attend college and law school at Yale, the second because he was married with a young child by the time he finished school in 1967. The deferments ensured that Lieberman would live --so he could vote to send younger men off to those other wars that he later supported. You've heard of getting rich with "other people's money," but for Joe Lieberman combat is apparently "other people's moral imperative."
- It seems to me if Cheney is to be listed than Lieberman can be listed also. FWIW, I did not vote for either man for V.P. If Cheney falls into a different catagory from Lieberman in terms of actively avoiding military service, please help me to understand the difference. If Lieberman can not be referenced under LPB, then neither should Clarence Thomas. Example (Disambiguation)
You recently reverted my edit on Example (Disambiguation) stating that it was not a disambiguation. Before I changed the page name to say it was a disambiguation page, User:Kubigula undid my edit proposing that it be transwikied as a definition. He stated that it WAS a disambiguation page. Bioinformatics.ca
I noticed that the Wikipedia page we are trying to create has been deleted - likely by a bot because the content is pretty much identical to our own webpage. This is not copyright infringement, because as the authors of both web and wikipedia, we would like to create this Wikipedia page. I refer to Bioinformatics.ca Wikipedia page which relates to our www.bioinformatics.ca web page. My page was deleted due to possible copyright violations to the carded graphics web site. I personally wrote both sections for carded graphics and have permission to post on wikipedia. It was an overview of company history. Can this be reposted?
