Hi there, re: Nosh (app)

[edit]

I saw you adding more sourcing to your draft here. I thought you should know that Medium is not considered a reliable source (see WP:RSP), and also as we discussed on the help channel, interviews won't help establish that Nosh meets our criteria for inclusion. Waggie (talk) 17:52, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, IMLone wolf, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Nosh (app), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:IMLone wolf, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=IMLone wolf|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 07:52, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Theroadislong:, Thank you for reviewing the page and apologies for my late reply. I have had exams in this month and hence, the delayed response. I have updated my page IMLone wolf to reflect any affiliation and interest. I have not been paid to write the article on Nosh (app). Though, I am a user of Nosh (app) and do I need to disclose this? If so, could you please help me on which template to use? Really appreciate your help and suggestions for me to becoming a better Wiki editor. IMLone wolf (talk) 16:32, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking IP

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 86.26.171.35. Place any further information here. IMLone wolf (talk) 10:35, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

My information indicates that IP belongs to a VPN service. You will need to turn this off, clear your browser cache, and wait 24 hours to edit. If you have a need to edit using a VPN, you may request an IP block exemption by following the instructions at WP:IPECPROXY. 331dot (talk) 10:38, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. Hi @331dot:, Thank you for taking the time and reviewing my request for unblocking my IP, however, this is to confirm that I am not using any VPN at the moment. This is the IP directly assigned to my laptop from my internet service provider (Virgin media). That being said I have used peer-to-peer VPN services in the past, which might have exposed my IP to that network and which might have affected/caused this issue. Do you have any suggestion to resolve this (as this is the IP assigned by my internet service provided)? IMLone wolf (talk) 10:54, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible that cookies/files left on your computer could cause Wikipedia to "think" a VPN is on even if there isn't actually one. If you clear your browser cache as I describe above, that should end that problem. 331dot (talk) 10:59, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: Thank you for your kind reply on this. I just tried clearing all the Browser cookies and restarted my computer as well. I also tried to release and renew my IP on the computer, however, the public IP (86.26.171.35) still remains the same. Is this something to do with any Global block on the IP due to VPN exposure? Please advise what I can do to resolve this (as the said methods didn't work as of yet) and continue my editorial hobby here. Really appreciate the help. IMLone wolf (talk) 11:23, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am shortly going to be leaving my computer for awhile, so I won't be able to look into this further. I would suggest that if you still cannot edit that you make another unblock request for someone else to look at. 331dot (talk) 11:25, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 86.26.171.35. I just tried clearing all the Browser cookies and restarted my computer several times as well. I also tried to release and renew my IP on the computer, however, the public IP (86.26.171.35) still remains the same as is assigned by my internet provider and not being used using any VPN service. That being said I have used VPN software before which might have comprised my current IP in some way, but this IP is currently not used under any VPN and is assigned directly by my internet service provider. Hence, renewing IP gives me the exact same IP as well. Please advise what I can do to be able to keep editing as an aspiring editor on the platform. Please look at the request (as raised with 331dot) on my (IMLone wolf) talk page to get prior investigation details on the topic. Once again, thank you for your time to review this issue. IMLone wolf (talk) 05:53, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

An IP address on Virgin Media is unlikely to change any time in the near future. You're probably wasting your time trying to lease a new IP address. Also, clearing your browser cookies or rebooting your PC will not allow you to edit from a hard blocked IP address. Wikipedia generally uses third-party tools to blacklist individual IP addresses that have been identified as TOR exit nodes, P2P VPNs, or open proxies. As you've seen, these IP addresses get automatically blocked to prevent people from using VPNs to evade sanctions. I suggest you just let the block time out, disable all proxy/VPN software, and do not enable them in the future. If we unblock your IP address early, our detection algorithms will whitelist your IP address. And, clearly, we can't do that because this is the second time VPN software was detected on your IP address (see Blocklog for "86.26.171.35" ). It shouldn't take longer than 16 hours from now. However, if you re-enable this software after the block expires, your IP address will automatically be blocked again. If you have a legitimate need to use a VPN, you can request IP block exemption. Hi :@NinjaRobotPirate: Thank you for taking the time to review my case and for the information. Yeah, I sometimes use TOR due to my work but I will keep the information that you have shared in my mind for future. For now I will just wait it out to let the block finish its period. Thank you once again for the help. IMLone wolf (talk) 20:01, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @NinjaRobotPirate: & @331dot: I have made sure that my PC is free of any VPN (I have already uninstalled all VPNs from my PC and rebooted), yet my IP is blocked for the 3rd time based on Blocklog for "86.26.171.35" , which shouldn't happen, especially because I have already uninstalled all the VPNs. Do you have any more suggestion on how to resolve this as I want to keep making edits yet I am not able to. At this point its frustrating and would definitely love to get some help from your side. Thank you for taking the time to help me out, mate. IMLone wolf (talk) 07:29, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you're not running any P2P VPN software, you'd probably have to talk to ST47, who runs that bot. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:54, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copying licensed material requires attribution

[edit]

Hi. I see in a recent addition to International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 15:16, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Diannaa: Thank you for pointing this out. I wasn't aware and I am a relatively new editor, so, I am learning as I go. I will definitely keep this in mind in future. IMLone wolf (talk) 18:41, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

InteliDey moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, InteliDey, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Celestina007 (talk) 22:13, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Celestina007: Thank you for taking the time and reviewing my article on InteliDey. I was hoping if you could provide me some pointers on which statements could use additional independent citations as I tried my best to only use independent (secondary citations) to support them? I have barely relied on any primary citations for the statements and hence, I was thinking whether I am doing something wrong? To source the information I have used InteliDey & Somdip Dey for news, books and scholar, and have used the secondary sources like TechCrunch, Business Insider, EDM Sauce, Free Press Journal, Food Tank etc. that are also used in other Wikipedia articles. Would really appreciate your help in this as it would allow me to learn as an (moderately new) editor and create better articles in Wikipedia. IMLone wolf (talk) 02:07, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Celestina007: I just wanted to keep you in the loop. The article has been cleaned up and has been worked by other editors to fulfill the notability criteria. I thank you once again for your time and support, especially to moderately new editors like me, to grow, learn and create good articles in Wikipedia.IMLone wolf (talk) 03:06, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I see you've been deleting WP:red links with a edit summary of removing 'broken links'. Just wanted to make sure you know that many red links are appropriate. If you think the term is notable, but does not have an article yet, you can create a red link. This serves as an invitation to create that article to others. Hope that helps :). Hello, @Femke Thank you. Yes, I am aware. The red links that I removed they seem not to be very notable/relevant. I usually double check them on Google News/Books and other sources. But thank you for reminding. :)) IMLone wolf (talk) 00:43, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello. I would like to appeal the unblock as 'User:IMLone wolf' is the only account that I use on EN Wiki to edit and contribute. Please allow me to justify my case. I started editing on Wikipedia almost 2 years ago. Usually while editing anything on EN Wiki, I seek help on EN-Wiki IRC chat and some of the editors there do know me. Yesterday when I went to the IRC chat to seek help, the usual editors who know me were not there and suddenly two editors' (with whom I have not interacted before, and I do not want to name them as I don't want to accuse anyone, assuming good faith) first comment was to accuse me of sock puppetry and paid editing while pointing out my block on Simple Wiki from 2 years ago (which could be noticed [[1]]).

2 years ago I was very new as an editor and was not aware of many policies and rules of Wikipedia. I don't recall exactly what happened on Simple Wiki but I do remember that I lost access to my account in Simple Wiki (2 years ago) and instead of appealing I created another account and started editing, which led me to the block on Simple Wiki. However, I learned since the polices around appeal and blocks.

On EN Wiki, I only have 1 account (User:IMLone wolf) and my first article, submitted for WK:AfC, was the Nosh app. I am a big believer of sustainability and the app is very popular where I am from and given it's media exposure I thought of creating that article and I submitted it for AfC, which went through and that started my hobby as an editor on EN Wiki. Since, then I have been writing and creating articles on different topics related to sustainability and technology (as my study and work is in technology). This could be confirmed through my contributions on EN Wiki as well.

Though User:IMLone wolf is my only account on EN Wiki but I do edit using public IPs (but using the same username - IMLone wolf) when I am editing while traveling. I would also like to point out that previously I used to edit from my home using the IP (86.26.171.35), which was blocked due to using VPN services ([talk:IMLone wolf|as pointed out here]). To point out, 86.26.171.35 is not a personal IP at home as I live in a shared building with multiple occupancy and the IP is shared with the whole building. Though I have not used VPNs since as mentioned [[2]] but the IP is blocked since due to someone else using VPN within the building, which I couldn't confirm as I don't have intimate access to other people living in the building.

Anyhow, I wanted to make my case by mentioning my editing history on EN Wiki and would like to urge to review my case as I am definitely not a sock puppet of User:MeLucifer as per the block since this (User:IMLone wolf) is the only account that I have ever used on EN Wiki. Thank you for your time and consideration. IMLone wolf (talk) 15:45, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
