Problematic editing of common knowledge information.

Hey there,

I noticed you not only deleted information on Flynas, but you did the same on all the Arab carriers that I added “Arab air carrier organization” to. Why? If you are to take a look on the wiki article of the organization and follow it through other means, you will realize all of these carriers are part of said organization. In fact, I wonder why you haven’t added the information yourself as you are a airline enthusiast it seems. To add, all airlines around the world have alliances and memberships added to their wiki articles without citations. Why the need to suddenly have citations for Arab carriers? Thanks. WatanWatan2020 (talk) 23:43, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

WP:V applies to every single article. I did not add what you mention because of WP:BURDEN; I'm not gonna do your work for you. Finally, you cannot use Wikipedia as a source for your edits.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:57, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
This editor put it back, citing the association membership list as a ref, which is WP:PRIMARY. I notice he has been adding links to this association to every member airline. I am not at all convinced that belonging to some random association is anyway notable. Airlines typically belong to dozens of associations, so what? The massed additions of these links looks like WP:COI WP:SPAM to me. - Ahunt (talk) 01:03, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

In regards to jetstreamer, I added the citation from aaco now. Job done. In regards to Ahunt, as I mentioned before, the AACO is a notable organization and not “a association similar to dozens of association” the way you are trying to portray it. It’s accurate information and will continue to be so. WatanWatan2020 (talk) 01:10, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Perhaps you can explain why an airline belonging to AACO is more notable than it belonging to IATA, for instance, which is not specifically mentioned in the article text. Perhaps you can also explain what your own relationship is to AACO and why you think it needs to be added to every member company? - Ahunt (talk) 01:15, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you

Hey Jetstreamer,

Thanks for the assistance in re implementing the sources you told me to add. There is anonymous vandal that is stalking every edit I make, whether related to airlines or not and undoing them. I have all the legitimate sources implemented and such person still reverts it to the formerly unsourced. He is doing it out of spite it seems and is already lobbing threats. He also has implemented incorrect information on top of sourced information regarding correct and up to date information.

I saw your edit in regards to removing the member countries and flags from the AACO page and understand such edit. WatanWatan2020 (talk) 23:16, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

Aeromexico is flying to GRU (Sao Paulo).

Well I was right. And 90% of the destinations have no source. Thankfully you've used Google for 2 sec to find out that I was right. It is not journalism or anything. Transaero Tu-154's

Hi. I noticed that you, for the second time, has removed my addition of the Tupolev Tu-154 from Transaero's "retired fleet" list. First time, granted, I didn't include any references. The second time, however, I did include photographic proof that it did in fact happen. Their very first flight back in 1991 was even operated by a Tu-154. I will however admit that I have not been able to find any specific date as to when they were removed from the fleet, and information about their operations in general is pretty limited, even in Russian circles. Even so, it's funny, for the lack of a better word, to see that even photographic evidence isn't enough for the edit to stay. Especially considering many other articles have links directly to Airliners.net, for example, as references.

Now, you may ask, why isn't it listed on other sources? Honestly, I wish I knew. I was quite surprised when I first heard about it too, but at least I attempted to do some digging. Didn't get very far, but I did find that at least four Tu-154's had been with Transaero at one point or another between 1991 and 1993, possibly 1994. It's sad, really, to see this genuinely important part of the airlines history so overlooked.

In retrospect, I guess I could have linked here: https://russianplanes.net/airline/47

My edits were based on common knowledge of low-power broadcasting. A low-power station that doesn't have a full-power simulcast or shares spectrum with a full-power station cannot reach the entire market over-the-air and only by cable when possible.

Your supported source about Virgin Australia as Flag Carrier is obsolete.

I'll finally say you that "Virgin Australia is Flag Carrier" is obsolete, because your source was about SIX YEARS OLD SITUATION in 2014(https://www.afr.com/companies/transport/national-carrier-it-s-a-matter-of-definition-20140305-ixnl4), still with wide body and long haul!!! Today in 2021, this airlines company is no longer flag carrier, and doesn't seem to recover as flag carrier, because of losing long haul and wide body aircraft. Moreover, the distance between Qantas are expanded. So, you should mend Australia's section in order to adapt current situation in 2021!!! Social25062 (talk) 5:53, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Can you please stop with this? There is a source in the article supporting the entry, that's enough evidence for inclusion.--Jetstreamer Talk 11:45, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

Problem

Hi!

As you can see, I didn't find any reliable sources, but when I search one of the airport, I didn't find Mandarin Airlines operated that flight, even in Kalibo International Airport, Laoag International Airport and Mactan-Cebu International Airport as well.. but, in the flightradar24, I don't see anything Mandarin Airlines operated that route. I search also for the source, but it was last 2014. Even I search this website: https://www.flightconnections.com/route-map-mandarin-airlines-ae. But I guess they terminated flights, as their Embraer E190 will retired in the mid 2021. So, hopefully you understand my situation and that's why I edited it. Thank you! Fleet Corrections

Hey, sorry for not including a source in the TAP Portugal update. I also corrected Iberia and Air Europa fleet lists, as they are both quite incorrect at the moment, if you could change these back also it would be great as the way i updated it was 100% correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidking03 (talkcontribs) 21:03, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Hey, I was just wondering why you think planespotters.net is an unreliable source, as you undid my edit on Arkia and claimed that the source was unreliable. Fire9600 (talk) 21:53, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

The page uses unofficial sources [1].--Jetstreamer Talk 01:04, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

It seems that the page doesn't just use unofficial sources, they also use official sources. Fire9600 (talk) 01:43, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

If it uses just one unnoficial source it cannot be considered reliable.--Jetstreamer Talk 11:54, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Then I was wondering if you know any websites that do a similar job to planespotters.net but are supposedly reliable. Additionally, on planespotters.net, both the unofficial and official sources are sources most commonly used. Fire9600 (talk) 21:57, 27 January 2021 (UTC)

Ariana Afghan Airlines

I spend time updating airlines' fleet sizes, airplane seat numbers and types, references, etc. I will make edit summaries at the end, as I didn't know I had to. But yes this change removing the "Boeing 737-500" row from Ariana Afghan Airlines' is correct, constructive, and relevant. If you go to their website, they make no mention of the -500, instead, listing the four aircraft in their fleet with their tail numbers.BMatsudo (talk) 21:02, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

"Their website" is not used as a source. Your changes were unexplained and unreferenced. Please read WP:VNT.--Jetstreamer Talk 00:44, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Ariana Afghan Airlines

As you have previously stated above, "Airline's websites are considered primary sources but in the absence of secondary sources they are good enough to be used as references.--Jetstreamer Talk 11:59, 22 February 2021 (UTC)". So why exactly is the fact that the airline's official website no longer states that they have at least one 737-500 not considered a viable, constitutable reason for the change? BMatsudo (talk) 03:26, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Threat of a block

Yes I totally agree what minor edit means. However my edit was simply to alter the current fleet makeup, which are matters of fact and already have sufficient sources on the page. This isn't the first time this has happened it seems people, can't take the time to see that all the edits I make are factually correct and appropriately referenced. Thanks for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VladimirPutinMyYeezy'sOn (talkcontribs) 16:13, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Procedural question - defunct Airline in WPAVIATION Template

Hello there Jetstreamer, I have a question about changing the WPAVIATION template from 'Airlines-project=yes' to 'defunct=yes' for airline articles that are no longer operating. Since I have never done this before, can any editor perform this task? I have seen some of the articles like Cathay Dragon, which I have contributed before has now ceased operation and merged with Cathay Pacific, hence, the article and any associated articles (e.g. destination list, accidents and incidents list, if any) should all marked 'defunct=yes', right? If that is correct, I will go ahead and update it, so it is tracked by the correct task group. Aviator006 (talk) 13:25, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Hey bud, I think you might need to get your eyes checked. I transferred the edits to Qantas fleet to a box, to avoid the WP:GALLERY. Sorry you got misled, but I've removed the galleries as requested :). Sorry again, but this is not the first time a user has mentioned me to follow WP:NOTAGALLERY. In honesty, does it matter if we just deviate a bit. I did indeed delete these galleries as it had a dedicated section from which they can be hosted on Commons, yes but in times, such as this article for example a gallery is ok. Remember, this is not my usual area of editing so please be mindful if I haven't got it right. If you want, maybe a user can advise me on the best approach. A topic (can't mentioned due to my tban) had a certain policy which made users on that one follow the photo guidelines. If there is a formal guideline/essay, I am happy to follow but i thought it was a neater layout :) --EurovisionNim (talk to me)(see my edits) 16:08, 13 July 2021 (UTC)

Hey there Jetstreamer! New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021

New Page Review queue September 2021

Hello Jetstreamer,

Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

Qatar fleet and 777X

Hi, sorry I overlooked the MoU part of the Qatar 737 order. But the Boeing news release of yesterday 31st also have the following line: "As part of today's agreement, Qatar Airways will convert 20 of its 60 777X family orders to the 777-8 Freighter." I read this as being only 40 777X orders left. The final proof will be when Boeing releases their O&D January numbers next Tuesday. [1] Rygjar (talk) 15:13, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022

New Page Review queue March 2022

Hello Jetstreamer,

At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.

Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.

In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 816 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 839 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.

This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022

New Page Review queue June 2022

Hello Jetstreamer,

Backlog status

At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.

Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]

In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).

While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).

Backlog drive

A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.

TIP – New school articles

Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.

Misc

There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:

Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 11226 articles, as of 00:00, 2 November 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot

There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.

Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
  • To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.
Notes
  1. ^ not including another ~6,000 redirects
  2. ^ The number of weekly reviews reported in the NPP feed includes redirects, which are not included in the backlog we primarily track.

Add Planespotters to WP:RSPSS

Just a heads up, to add the site to WP:RSPSS, since it's unreliable. It's impossible for someone to know otherwise. Also, is FlightRadar24 reliable? You can see new planes flying actual commercial routes there so it kinda verifies the existence of them.

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022

New Page Review queue August 2022

Hello Jetstreamer,

Backlog status

After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.

Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.

Coordination
MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
Open letter to the WMF
The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
TIP - Reviewing by subject
Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
New reviewers
The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.

Aircraft images in airline infoboxes

Kuwait Fleet history

Hi Jetstreamer, not sure why you changed the A300-600 fleet exit date from the Kuwait airways back to a wrong date. I personally flew onboard one of those aircraft in January 2015 and there are plenty pictures available of these aircraft taken in 2015 and the previous years. Take a look at a proper source for airline fleet histories, like planespotters.net and you'll see, that 9K-AMA to AME left the fleet in November and December 2015. I can deduct from your personal page that you are interested in Aviation, not sure if you work in the industry, I personally have a Masters degree in Aeronautical engineering and work for large airline group. Maxi-Air (talk) 14:36, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

Planespotters is not a reliable source, and personal experiences do not count as sources. However, the exit date you mention is correct according to planespotters, which is used as a source in the article.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:29, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
I'm not sure you are familiar with the backgrounds, but Planespotters.net is by far the most accurate publicly available fleet website there is. Airfleets is far less reliable in comparison. I know personal experiences don't count as a source, but that's what made this mistake painfully obvious to me. Maxi-Air (talk) 12:12, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Planespotters.net falls under WP:SPS and is not considered a reliable source. - Ahunt (talk) 13:08, 18 August 2022 (UTC)

boeing 767 operators page edits

Yea sorry man. Was just trying to make some updates. Alot of 767's on the list are not currently operational and have been retired. I was using respective airline websites , The PlanSpotter website and various other sources like flightradar24 and flight aware to try and verify my info. Even the numbers there do not correlate with those of each individual airline wiki page. Please look into that. Some other airlines are disfunct so please look into that as well and update the page. I was planning to citations and references once finish the list thou. Sermons0499 (talk) 16:49, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Number of ATR 72 in the Indigo article

Hey, you changed the number of operated ATR 72 in the Indigo article from 34 to 29, but didn't change the amount of planes on order.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=IndiGo&diff=prev&oldid=1059091311

The number of ATR 72 that are operated and still on order should sum up to 50, right? In order to equal this reference: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-05-09/indigo-orders-50-atr-turboprops-in-push-to-serve-indian-regions WikiPate (talk) 11:45, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

The diff is almost one year old. The article has been updated many times since then.--Jetstreamer Talk 20:31, 16 September 2022 (UTC)
I found now a reference: The entire order is still 50. I will adjust it in the article. WikiPate (talk) 08:50, 17 September 2022 (UTC)

The source is in the article but of course in U.S dollars, you can simply convert that amount to birr.

Because of that fact i am going to revert it, if you have a better source and have it not in 2012 but more like 2020 or 2021 that will be much appreciated that outdated numbers 9 years ago. Onengsevia (talk) 16:15, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

Indigo as second largest A321neo operator

Hey.

Why did you remove this fact?

In the official Orders and Deliveries document, just sort by A321neos operated. Then Wizzair including subsidiaries is first and Indigo second. WikiPate (talk) 05:28, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

You're right about sorting but I see it is the largest operator with 68 aircraft, Wizzair is behind with 65.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:15, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

In the document is another entry for Wizz Air Abu Dhabi with 4 aircraft. So Wizz Air including subsidiaries has one aircraft more than Indigo. WikiPate (talk) 20:04, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Cargo planes in the Airbus Orders and delivieries document

Actually the Airbus document shows also cargo aircraft. For example it shows the A330 freighter of WizzAir.

In the same way the document also shows the A321P2F aircraft. Airbus simply does not differentiate between A321 and A321P2F.

So the reference in the IndiGo article for the amount of A321P2F is correct. WikiPate (talk) 20:09, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Referencing numbers in Fleet tables

There is a reason behind giving every number a reference in the Fleet table of ordered aircraft and aircraft in service in the IndiGo article. (You call it redundant referencing)

It simply reduces the frequent false editing and vandalism of these numbers.

In this way the readers understand that there is a reference behind each of these numbers. It leads to less people just copying numbers from planespotters or elsewhere. WikiPate (talk) 20:23, 18 October 2022 (UTC)

Regarding your revert in the IndiGo article "Unexplained changes. The general source supports the entire table unless otherwise stated."

I explained the changes in the subsequent edit.

And as I wrote you before: Referencing all numbers in the Fleet table regarding the number of operated and ordered aircraft prevents vandalism and false editing.

Why don't you discuss that topic here? WikiPate (talk) 13:16, 31 October 2022 (UTC)

The topic should be discussed at the article's talk page, not here. Few people monitor my talk page.--Jetstreamer Talk 14:23, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

About this revert

For this revert: I think that the two incidents are notable, compare with Air France accidents and incidents, there are many "incidents" similar to MH134 and MH2664 that goes to the media and it may notable, especially the MH134 incident. I really doubt about this revert. I know about WP:WTAF, and I should not link Malaysia Airlines Flight 134. HaydenWong (talk) 06:46, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
