License tagging for File:Vallavanukku Vallavan.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Vallavanukku Vallavan.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:05, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 08:47, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Billa Logo.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Billa Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.

Thank you. DASHBot (talk) 05:33, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Dashavatar (2008 film), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Dashavatar. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 15:30, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for File:MGR_as_Alibaba.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MGR_as_Alibaba.jpg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 02:58, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged File:Alibaba_1956_film_tamil_intertitle.png as a disputed use of non-free media, because there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please clarify your fair use rationale on the image description page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 02:59, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jinjanjaa, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you worked on, P. D. Sambandam, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

It helps to explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the Help Desk. Thanks again for contributing! CharlieDelta (talk) 19:49, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I notice that you have removed the proposed deletion tag but not added anything to answer the point about the subject's notability. If you read the notability guidelines for actors, you will see that this requires evidence that the subject: "1.Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions;2.Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following;3 Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment." It's the evidence of this notability which is missing from the article and I was unable to find more than one passing reference to him online. If you have more knowledge of the subject and can provide at least one reliable source to support the claim to notability, that would certainly help prevent the article being nominated for deletion, which may be the next stage, if it stays the way it is. If you have any questions about this comment, just post your query below this message and I will reply--CharlieDelta (talk) 21:02, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I do not know much information but I am sure that he was well-known for his time

[edit]

I must admit that I have only restricted sources to learn about people like P. D. Sambandam but I know that he was a well-known man. You may not find many sources online either because not many people know him today. His popularity died a good lot. But I was able to find his page in IMDb which is no passing reference.

[1]

Besides, I am new here and have lots of doubts. I want someone experienced to guide me. What must I do? I need someone who can chat with me and teach me.

Unfortunately, IMDB is not regarded as a reliable source for references. If you are keen to create and edit articles in Wikipedia, you are very welcome. However, since it is quite complicated and it can be very discouraging to have your first efforts deleted, I strongly recommend that you spend some time reading the articles highlighted in the "Welcome" box above. There is a lot of very good advice in them and this will help you have a productive time here. There are lots of places in Wikipedia where you can go for help and most of them are covered in the links above. If you have a specific question, you can post it on the New contributor's help page and one of the more experienced editors will answer.--CharlieDelta (talk) 08:17, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot already

[edit]

Thank you very much for your help. If you do not mind, may I borrow your Gmail or Facebook ID? And if IMDb is not considered a reliable source, can you list a few reliable sources? What is considered a reliable source, in general? What is the criteria for a source to be reliable?

First step is to read the articles suggested in the Welcome box above. That will give you most of the information you need. If you would like to work more closely with an experienced Wikipedia editor, I suggest that look at the Adopt-a-user program (click here). On that page you will find a link to a list of editors willing to help/guide new users through the basic steps and to answer questions. You will find the answers to your specific query about reliable sources if you click here.--CharlieDelta (talk) 12:32, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Mayabazar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hyderabad (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Replaceable fair use File:MuhammadBinTughluq Sultan.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MuhammadBinTughluq Sultan.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 10:00, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
