License tagging for Image:Reading Rugby logo.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Reading Rugby logo.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:07, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Creation of new pages[edit]

Hi Joewiki,

I'm a newpage patroller. This is with regards to a number of new pages you have created quite recently. I understand that you have created them in good faith. But unless you have substantial information to incluse, it is better to avoid creating pages with a few words. If you have such little trivia on their date of birth and other information about the players you could instead create a table and tabulate them on the main page, London Irish. As of now , the pages you've created are marked for deletion. Sorry abt tht.

Cheers for ur effort. - Chez (Discuss / Email) • 10:37, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Degas sculpture[edit]

Thank you for contributing an article. However, for legal reasons, we cannot accept text that has been copied from pre-existing external websites. You may use them as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences, if you follow what I'm saying. Feel free to re-write the article in your own words. DS 13:57, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

What vandalism is not[edit]

Please read more about what vandalism is not before making serious accusations. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 19:28, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

If this is about the Reading Fans article there have been persistant deletions which together probably do constitute vandalism. I accept the latest one was probably just an error and I will be more careful next time. JoeWiki 08:43, 01 November 2006 (UTC)

Your comments on the Stephen Hunt edit page are pathetic. You don't own the page and you have no justification for removing my edits. Just because Reading Fans like you want to believe Hunt didn't deliberately knee Petr Cech's head in it doesn't make it true. 'Incident' is a better usage. I see from the above comment that I'm not the only one who has a problem with your manipulation of Wikipedia. The Special One 03:00, 05 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:The Madejski Stadium.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:The Madejski Stadium.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --ccwaters 13:45, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Čech breaks Hulse's ankle in horrific injury[1][edit]

(title modified by JoeWiki)
Why does a paragraph about Rob Hulse breaking his ankle belong on the Petr Čech page? SteveO 22:24, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

It was an accident but Petr Čech broke it. Čech raced out to smother his effort and in the collision the Blades top-scorer suffered an horrific injury when his ankle appeared to snap beneath him [2]. (JoeWiki 22:30, 17 March 2007 (UTC))
I did delete it with a reason, the reason being that, imo, it is non-notable. Wikipedia is not a news service. SteveO 22:46, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Well if you cannot distinguish between someone clattering into a goalkeeper with his knee, leaving him with a fractured skull, and someone falling awkwardly over a trailing leg,[3] then that's up to you. I disagree that it is notable in Cech's career. The incident has received minimal coverage in the media (Match of the Day devoted more time to Paul Robinson's goal), not even Neil Warnock accused Cech of wrongdoing. If it was deliberate, or Cech's responsibility was very ambiguous (as Hunt's was), or it received extensive coverage in the media, or Cech received a red card, then it would be notable. But that's not the case. I would also urge you to be cautious when accusing others of vandalism. SteveO 12:28, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Ian Wood-Smith[edit]

Information icon.svg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Ian Wood-Smith, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Ian Wood-Smith seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Ian Wood-Smith, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 21:00, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

It's usual for Directors of Premier League football clubs to appear on Wikipedia though if the 'other Wikipedia user' wants it so much then delete it. JoeWiki (talk) 21:08, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Ian Wood-Smith[edit]

I have nominated Ian Wood-Smith, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ian Wood-Smith. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Fair use rationale for Image:Nomads R.F.C.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nomads R.F.C.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. South West Division One[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of South West Division One, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.jgames.co.uk/title/National_Division_Three_South. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:29, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Jon Fearn[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

An editor has nominated Jon Fearn, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jon Fearn and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 14:01, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Madejskiville[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Madejskiville, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

it is an implausible redirect with obvious links to the town, but without sufficient widespread use other than a mention here

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Booglamay (talk · contributions) - 10:33, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:HobnobAnyone logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HobnobAnyone logo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Proposed deletion of Charles Russell LLP[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Charles Russell LLP has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
