Years of life[edit]
Please be aware that in encyclopedic writing, we do not give a person's lifespan as "(Born in YYYY - Death in YYYY)" — while we obviously prefer to give the exact month-day-year dates if we can find them, if all we know is the year then we just write "(YYYY - YYYY)" rather than adding the words "born" and "death" alongside them. Hi @JonathanRitter:
It looks like you’ve been editing on Wikipedia for a while. Welcome! I’m a researcher working on Wikipedia algorithms and artificial intelligences (AIs). Maybe it seems a little random to hear from someone like me…if you’ve only been here for a little while, why would we care about your opinion?
You may or may not be aware of them, but the algorithms that operate on Wikipedia affect new editors like you in very important ways. Even if you’ve only made a few edits, we really need to understand how you feel about your initial experiences -- good or bad -- so that we can make sure that the AIs we build in the future do what users like you want them to do.
