Francis of Assisi
[edit]You have done a good job in overhauling the text of Francis of Assisi. JoJan 09:33, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, but all I did was revert edits others had made in which they had deleted content. I haven't really contributed anything new to speak of to the article. --Mwalimu59 15:29, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Homebrewing versus Home brewing
[edit]I don't think the page is being vandalized. I think User:82.18.18.215 is most likely User:DavidP02 not logged in. I think this is a newbie trying to do a page move without having found the "move tab". (See Talk:Home brewing#A polite note on concatenating "home" and "brewing") I really don't care much which name is chosen, but we need to avoid having two copies--so you two should try to work this out. -MrFizyx 01:22, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I've temporarily solved this problem by merging the new content back into Homebrewing (which I now believe to be the rightful name) and reverted Home brewing back to a redirect. We'll see how it goes. -MrFizyx 02:13, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Should work. I haven't really been involved in the exchange before now, and was just acting on the assumed consensus that "Homebrewing" was the preferred title (it is also my preference, but if the consensus is that "Home brewing" or "Home-brewing" is better, that's fine with me). I've seen instances before where someone gets a stubborn "this is how it is" streak on something and keeps editing an article accordingly, despite protests and reverts by others, and it looked this might be a similar case. --Mwalimu59 02:31, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi
[edit]About the merge tag I put on both Fursuit and Furry Fandom, why the revert? It has been discussed on the Fursuit tag that it should be moved into Furry Fandom or expanded. That was two months ago, and since no one has expanded it, shouldn't it follow that it be merged? --Qaf.kinney.brian 06:04, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- Umm . . . actually, it has been expanded. GreenReaper 06:40, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- My bad, I didn't know that 3 extra lines and linking to unsourced wikis meant it was expanded :) --Qaf.kinney.brian 06:45, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- No worries. I think you'll find the reference is actually to a published book - the wiki is just where you can find out more about it. Welcome to Wikipedia! :-) GreenReaper 06:56, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Contemporary Catholic liturgical music
[edit]Hi, Mwalimu59! You had some comments at User talk:Lifeindfastlane about some recent edits. I added some comments as well, in that same location, and I just wanted to let you know -- in case you are interested in continuing this discussion. Also, I wasn't sure if perhaps the discussion should be moved to Talk:Contemporary Catholic liturgical music, but for now I figured it was easier to just continue it on Lifeindfastlane's talk page. — Lawrence King (talk) 06:57, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
About De Colores
[edit]Hello. I saw that you are the main contributor of the article about the song "De Colores". I am in need of the source stating that the song is from the 16 century. I need evidence that the song is in the public domain. Thanks! Enrique Vargas 03:08, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- If you do a Google search on "De Colores" history, you should find plenty of sources to support that the song is in the public domain. If you want something in print, look for De Colores and Other Latin-American Folk Songs for Children by José Luis Orozco, which should hopefully confirm that it is a traditional song. There should be plenty of other good sources as well. --Mwalimu59 04:38, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Article
[edit]partial revert; this has happened several times (not just at Anthrocon 2006))- Source? --147.126.31.168 19:05, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not aware of any single source that summarizes various journalists' experiences attending furry cons, but I can point you to several individual articles, some of which are referenced elsewhere in this section of the article. If those aren't enough, you can find more examples at http://furry.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Media_coverage .
- There have been numerous instances of journalists going to furry cons. In every case I'm aware of one of two things happened:
- They knew in advance what kind of report they were after, and did a lot of digging for a few nuggets and putting the right spin on them to get it while ignoring a great deal of more "boring" input and activity that didn't support their objective;
- They showed up expecting to find people having an orgy in fursuits and instead found little of that and a lot more of the sort of thing you'd expect to find at a trekkie/sci-fi/anime convention.
- Your edits could be interpreted to imply that what happened at Anthrocon 2006 (an incident of the latter type) was an isolated incident or at least the exception to the rule, when in actuality it is very typical. --Mwalimu59 19:29, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- My edits only implied that what the article states about the furry fandom were only taken from a select few at an event attended by a small percentage of the larger fandom. Its like me going to CPAC, talking to a few conservatives about what conservatism was all about, and then posting it as fact on Wikipedia --147.126.31.168 20:16, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- So what's your point? You talked to experts and had your report published. It is a reliable, verified source. While it is true that you didn't talk to every conservative in the world, you did ask those who would be in a position to know about conservatism in general. If you don't believe their views are representative of all conservatives, the sensible thing to do would be to find another reliable source of conservative experts who say something about the topic. In doing so, you may confirm or deny the initial findings. GreenReaper 05:26, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Hey there...Just a heads up... I re-added the link to The Beatles (album) which you had removed. I don't disagree with your edit, however for potential confusion between these two album's names, I thought the link was necessary. I reworded the text for clarity. I trust that you will find this ok. Thanks for your attention to this page. SteinAlive | ☎ | ☉ 08:34, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I noticed you commented re: my edit. I suggest you may ask the arbitor for the email discussion I sent, or I can provide it (to anyone). I went the email route, as I really try to avoid having people misinterpret comments as disparaging and the like, esp. as it appears PH and I don't gel as perhaps we'd like. Plus, the whole back-and-forth petty discussion thing really detracts from things, and as a rule I try to avoid getting baited into such. I believe my response provides full detail, illustrating quite a strong pertinence to the article, and is not "orig research"...Of course, if PH is Administrator (news to me), I am sure now I will lose this battle--Billymac00 (talk) 17:47, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Fly Like an Eagle
[edit]Your recent edit to Fly Like an Eagle was reverted because that article is about the album and your contribution was about the title song, which as its own article, Fly Like an Eagle (song). Seal's cover version of the song is already mentioned there, but you are free to review and improve that article as you see fit. --Mwalimu59 (talk) 14:42, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- The track by seal(musician) is a cover version of the original, if you can't mention cover versions, then I'm at fault but then there's no visible policy is there on this? Is there ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.192.59.130 (talk) 17:52, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, it is okay to mention cover versions, and quite common to do so. The issue in this case is that the article Fly Like an Eagle is not about the song, but about the Steve Miller Band album by that title; the song Fly Like and Eagle has its own article - Fly Like an Eagle (song). (And if there had been no separate article about the song, then it would be okay to mention it in the album article as long as you make it clear you're referring to the title track and not the album. Here also it's not unusual for an album article to include text about individual songs when they are not notable enough to merit separate articles.) --Mwalimu59 (talk) 19:02, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Updates to Dan Fogelberg
[edit]Thanks for your message regarding my recent updates to the Dan Fogelberg page. The chart positions I added were the only ones I found in my reference material. I, too, was surprised that "Rhythm of the Rain" never charted on the Pop Singles chart -- although I expect it charted on the Adult Contemporary chart, I do not have access to that information at this time. I do note that "Longer" charted in the UK at #59, his only charting single there (the "Phoenix" album charted at #42 as well -- again, his only charting album in the UK). I considered adding that to the page, but wasn't sure it was noteworthy enough.

StateFarm
[edit]I see where you removed the items relating to State Farm and Patni Computer Services participating in the H1B visa issue. As my citation indicates. Patni was hired by State Farm, to provide H1Bs visa recipients to work at State Farm, in which Patni was telling the Dept of Labor that they were paying the H1Bs 44,000, when in reality, they were paying much less. In fact Patni had to pay $2.4 million to settle this problem. The work was performed at State Farm headquarters. This activity is cited by BusinessWeek and the Associated Press.
How do you propose that we include this in State Farm's Wikipedia page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobheath (talk • contribs) 19:29, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Trolling comment on Talk:Furry fandom
[edit]Concerning your comment here, I am confused. Neither comment looks like trolling to me, though admittedly User:Nationalism has been a repeat offender for trolling in the past. But both of these particular comments seem to be fairly innocuous (albeit missing the point that the currently described studies are the only ones available), and I certainly wouldn't accuse the anonymous user of being a sockpuppet. Assuming good faith is much better than accusing relatively tame statements of being trolling and sockpuppetry, unless it's blatantly obvious. -kotra (talk) 23:16, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I was on the fence to begin with whether to call DNFT or AGF on the exchange, and I just realized one of my reasons for suspecting the anonymous user was a sockpuppet was confusion on my part. I am still suspicious of the possibility for a couple of other reasons, but for the anonymous poster I will recant and AGF. I still think DNFT is an appropriate response to Nationalism's reply. I've AGF'ed his comments in the past and he's ignored explanations and persisted in trolling. The reply here still strikes me as an attempt at being less blatant and more subtle but still trolling. --Mwalimu59 (talk) 00:32, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ok. Thanks for recanting on the sockpuppet thing. -kotra (talk) 02:55, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
re: Dan Fogelberg singles
[edit]Hi there, Mwalimu59. Nice to speak with another Fogelberg fan, I remember listening to the greatest hits record (wow, I'm dating myself!) back in the day. The task I keep coming back to on wikipedia is populating the category for Billboard #1 AC hits, and Dan had four, so I was creating pages for those songs, anyway. I was just thinking about updating the chart table on Dan's page to include AC, since he had more hits there than any of the other charts, so I taught myself how to copy/paste my way through and I hope it looks acceptable now. There was one pop chart position I took out, since I'm not sure "Lonely in Love" reached the Hot 100 at all. My two sources are the Whitburn Top 40 book from 1996 and a great one I just got recently called The Billboard Book of #1 Adult Contemporary Hits from 1999 by Wesley Hyatt. All the chart stats for the US came from those two books, and in the latter it mentions "Go Down Easy" (#85) and "She Don't Look Back" (#84) as Dan's last two to make the Hot 100. "Rhythm of the Rain" must have missed the Hot 100 but made #3 AC, according to the book. Thanks. Zephyrnthesky (talk) 21:18, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Goldbach conjecture
[edit]Hi,
I think we pressed the revert button more or less simultaneously, but to different versions; you are welcome to revert my edit if this is not the version you prefer.
Best, Sasha (talk) 16:24, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- It seems to me that although it said "greater than 2" prior to User:Thumperward's edits, "greater than 4" is correct. The definition of "Goldbach number" at Wolfram MathWorld states that it must be the sum of two odd primes, and the only way 4 can be expressed as the sum of two primes is 2+2, and 2 is even, therefore 4 is not a Goldbach number. Without the stipulation that the primes be odd, every odd number that's a prime number plus 2 would also be a Goldbach number, which I'm pretty sure is not correct. All this may seem nitpicky, but in the field of mathematics they tend to be pretty precise about such things. --mwalimu59 (talk) 17:46, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
- I have no objection to your corrections (I think you are completely right). Sasha (talk) 00:48, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

The article I and Thou (band) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- claims of notability are not supported by references provided (this is not a supergroup). Lacks citations to significant coverage in reliable sources.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 03:31, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
- I've added several references to the article and made various other improvements. Hopefully that's enough to demonstrate notability and that it's sufficiently well researched and supported. --mwalimu59 (talk) 15:37, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

AIV report
[edit]Hi - I rangeblocked the IPv6 user you reported for two weeks for disruption. When the first four sets of IPv6 blocks are the same, it's one network, meaning one end user. There can be other users on that network but it's rare given the way IPv6 addresses are set up, and in this case it's not likely given the pattern. If he continues after the two weeks are up, leave a message on my talk page and I'll look into it. It's not exactly the guy's fault that his IP is jumping around like that – AFAIK you can't call up AT&T and ask for IPv6 – but we're not going to let him introduce false info no matter how his ISP chooses to allocate addresses. Thanks for the report. :-) Katietalk 21:01, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
